National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts-Weiwuying: TAIWAN

So... my first ever trip to Taiwan! And thankfully, the powers that be behaved themselves and no funny global superpower business happened whilst I was there...

... and this modern looking building was the venue for the second concert of my little trip. But I'm posting it first... and it is a more Western looking building than the other place... and more recent. And in some ways... a little bit disappointing, as it could be a cultural centre in any city on Earth... a touch generic... and as one of my fellow musicians pointed out... a concrete hellhole... especially with the hot and humid weather!

... but on the inside, nicely air-conditioned... and as usual with these multi stage venues... a complete rabbit warren of featureless identical looking corridors to get lost in! Thankfully, it was a good deal less maze-like than other places that I've been in and there was a pretty clear artery corridor that was easy to recognise and navigate!

And so, one of the smaller concert halls... and quite a nice one, with comfortable raked seating for the audience...

... and a really decent stage with great acoustic feeling.. and adjustable acoustic panels as well! A really really nice place to play in!

What was quite unusual though... was that the place seemed to attract quite a decent little crowd in the evenings... nothing to do with anything else that was happening... and that this outdoor terrace area had a piano whose sound would bounce all around and then out into the open air! A really nice touch...

... and it does look significantly better at night than in the stark light of the daytime!

Oh wow, that does look like a really wonderful venue. The way they had the acoustic panels set up is really cool.
