Hello to all reading fans, I hope you are doing great today... today I want to share with you a new review with my opinions of the book: Behind the Bars by Brittainy C. Cherry. Cherry, this is a book that I finished a few months ago and without a doubt I can tell you that it hits straight in the feelings. From the very first chapter it grabs you completely...we will go deep into the lives of Jasmine and Elliot...we can feel like we are literally right there with them, experiencing every high and low of their relationship, the opening is especially captivating, because it brings us right into a key moment in both of their lives.

We will see how Jasmine is facing her mother's pressure and how she is dreaming of a little freedom, while Elliot is struggling to find his voice in a world that constantly oppresses him... the description of New Orleans and the music flowing through its streets adds an interesting charm to the whole atmosphere, making you feel the emotional connection... it is one of those stories where the music is not just a background element, but on the contrary it is the glue that binds everything together. The connection that happens between Jasmine and Elliot through music is so well written that it feels like they can listen to their tunes while reading, music is not just a passion for them, but it is the driving force behind their relationship and moves the whole story forward.

Jasmine is an extremely bright and very talented girl who has been shaped by her mother's relentless ambition.. her life revolves around singing, ballet and the pursuit of perfection, but deep down she is just a teenager who longs to have some normalcy and sense in her head, Elliot, on the other hand, is a quiet, stuttering boy who comes alive when he plays his saxophone. . he is a kind and selfless person, we can also see how he is painfully vulnerable... the way the author portrays all these struggles Elliot has against bullying is raw and direct... honestly, some parts were hard to read because of how raw they were, but they are handled with such authenticity that it never feels forced or gratuitous. You can really feel all the weight Elliot goes through, and it makes his growth throughout the book all the more poignant and impactful.

Hola a todos los fanáticos de la lectura, espero que hoy estén súper bien.. el día de hoy quiero compartir con ustedes una nueva reseña con mis opiniones del libro: Behind the Bars by Brittainy C. Cherry, este es un libro que terminé hace algunos meses y que sin duda puedo decirles que golpea directo en los sentimientos. Desde el primer capítulo te atrapa completamente.. nos adentraremos en las vidas de Jasmine y Elliot.. podremos sentir que estamos literalmente allí con ellos, experimentando cada alto y bajo de su relación, la apertura es especialmente cautivadora, porque nos introduce directamente en un momento clave de la vida de ambos.

Veremos como Jasmine se está enfrentando a la presión de su madre y cómo está soñando con un poco de libertad, mientras que Elliot está luchando por encontrar su voz en un mundo que constantemente lo oprime.. la descripción de New Orleans y la música que fluye por sus calles añade un encanto interesante a toda la atmósfera, haciendo que sientas la conexión emocional.. es de aquellas historias donde la música no es solo un elemento de fondo, sino que al contrario es el pegamento que une todo. La conexión que se da entre Jasmine y Elliot a través de la música está tan bien escrito que parece que pueden escuchar sus melodías mientras leen, la música no es solo una pasión para ellos, sino que es la fuerza que impulsa su relación y hace avanzar toda la historia.

Jasmine es una chica sumamente brillante y muy talentosa que ha sido moldeada por la implacable ambición de su madre.. su vida gira en torno al canto, el ballet y la búsqueda de la perfección, pero en el fondo solo es un adolescente que anhela tener un poco de normalidad y sentido de su cabeza, Elliot, por otro lado, es un chico callado y tartamudo que cobra vida cuando toca su saxofón.. es una persona amable y desinteresada, también podemos ver cómo es dolorosamente vulnerable.. la forma en la que la autora retrata todas estas luchas que tiene Elliot contra el acoso escolar es cruda y directa.. honestamente, algunas partes fueron difíciles de leer por lo crudas que eran, pero están manejadas con tanta autenticidad que nunca se siente forzado o gratuito. Realmente puedes sentir todo el peso que Elliot atraviesa, y esto hace que su crecimiento a lo largo del libro sea aún más conmovedor e impactante.

One of the things I liked most about this story is how the idea of family is explored... Jasmine's relationship with her mother is very complicated to say the least, her mother puts constant pressure on her to be the perfect pop star, sacrificing any personal desires with her daughter's need in a process.... this level of control not only limits this girl's freedom, but also affects her self-esteem and her ability to make decisions for herself.. plus, Jasmine's mother seems more interested in fulfilling her own thwarted dreams through her daughter than in Jasmine's own well-being, which adds a layer of emotional tension and resentment to her dynamic, then there is Ray, her mother's partner, who is a warm and stable presence in her life.

In Elliot's case, his family is everything...his mother is a fierce protector, his sister is a walking whirlwind, and then there is TJ, who is practically family, even though they are not related by blood... the dynamic between all the characters adds a lot of depth to the story, it's not just about the love story between Jasmine and Elliot, but it also addresses how the people around them shape who they are and who they become. Talking a bit more about love as such, the romance in this book is so pure and tender... the relationship between these two starts as a sweet and innocent friendship that slowly turns into something deeper, they are each other's safe haven, and the way they support and uplift each other is just beautiful. But, not everything is rosy here... the story takes some dark turns, especially in the second half when they are already adults... without revealing too much, let's just say that both tend to face a lot of pain and traumas from the past, and it's just in these moments where you really see their evolution and how much they have grown.

Una de las cosas que más me gustaron de esta historia es cómo se explora la idea de la familia.. la relación de Jasmine con su madre es muy complicada, por decirlo menos, su madre ejerce una presión constante para que sea la estrella de pop perfecta, sacrificando cualquier deseo personal con la necesidad de su hija en un proceso.. este nivel de control no solo limita la libertad de esta chica, sino que también afecta su autoestima y su capacidad para tomar decisiones por sí misma.. además, la madre de Jasmine parece más interesada en cumplir sus propios sueños frustrados a través de su hija que en el bienestar de la propia Jasmine, lo que añade una capa de tensión emocional y resentimiento a su dinámica, luego está Ray, la pareja de su madre, quien es una presencia cálida y estable en su vida.

En el caso de Elliot, su familia lo es todo.. su madre es una protectora feroz, su hermana es un torbellino andante, y luego está TJ, quien es prácticamente familia, aunque no estén relacionados por sangre.. la dinámica entre todos los personajes agrega mucha profundidad a la historia, no se trata solo de la historia de amor entre Jasmine y Elliot, sino que también aborda cómo las personas alrededor moldean quiénes son y en quiénes se convierten. Hablando un poco más del amor como tal, el romance en este libro es tan puro y tierno.. la relación entre estos dos comienza como una dulce e inocente amistad que poco a poco se convierte en algo más profundo, son el refugio seguro del otro, y la forma en la que se apoyan y se elevan mutuamente es simplemente hermoso. Pero, no todo es color de rosa aqui.. la historia toma algunos giros oscuros, especialmente en la segunda mitad cuando ya son adultos.. sin revelar demasiado, digamos que ambos tienden a enfrentar mucho dolor y traumas del pasado, y es justo en estos momentos donde realmente se ve su evolución y cuánto han crecido.

While it was a book I really enjoyed, there were a few things that didn't quite convince me.. for one, the darkness of the story sometimes felt a bit overdone.. the graphic descriptions of bullying, while shocking, were sometimes too much.. there was a fine line between showing the harsh realities of a situation and overwhelming the reader.. and I think this book occasionally crosses it. Also, the pacing in the second half feels a bit rushed, after such a detailed and good development in their teenage years, I wanted more time to explore their adult versions and see how their relationship evolved more naturally.. but honestly, these are minor details on the grand end of things, I found the writing impressive, with a lyrical quality that perfectly complements the musical themes of the story.. the dual perspectives work very well, giving you insight into the thoughts and emotions of both Jasmine and Elliot.

Both are protagonists, and neither seems to have more importance than the other...they just complement each other in a great way... and obviously the setting has to be mentioned, New Orleans practically becomes a character in its own right, with its vibrant musical essence and rich culture adding a lot of atmosphere to the story. If you're a fan of stories about love, family, resilience, and the healing power of music, this is a book you might quite like... I found it an emotional, moving read, and it's the kind of story you'll recommend to many of your friends... I think it deserves a solid 4.5/5 star rating. It's far from perfect, but I consider it to be beautiful in its imperfections, and just because of them...I would recommend it for anyone looking for a story, that is a little heartbreaking yet hopeful...and well, that would be today's review. Aunque fue un libro que disfruté mucho, hubo unas cosas que no me convencieron del todo.. por un lado, la oscuridad de la historia a veces se siente un poco exagerada.. las descripciones gráficas del acoso escolar, aunque impactantes, a veces eran demasiado.. había una línea muy fina entre mostrar las duras realidades de una situación y abrumar al lector.. y creo que este libro ocasionalmente la cruza. Además, el ritmo en la segunda mitad se siente un poco apresurado, después de un desarrollo tan detallado y bueno en sus años de adolescencia, quería más tiempo para explorar sus versiones adultas y ver cómo evolucionaba su relación de manera más natural.. pero honestamente, estos son detalles menores en el gran extremo de las cosas, la escritura me parece impresionante, con una calidad lírica que complementa perfectamente los temas musicales de la historia.. las perspectivas duales funcionan muy bien, dándote una visión de los pensamientos y emociones tanto de Jasmine como de Elliot.

Ambos son protagonistas, y ninguno parece que tenga más importancia que el otro.. simplemente se complementan de gran manera.. y obviamente hay que mencionar el escenario, New Orleans prácticamente se convierte en un personaje por derecho propio, con su vibrante esencia musical y su rica cultura que agregan mucha atmósfera a la historia. Si eres un fanático de las historias sobre el amor, la familia, la resistencia y el poder sanador de la música, este es un libro que podría gustarte bastante.. me parece una lectura emotiva, conmovedora, y es el tipo de historia que recomendarás a muchos de tus amigos.. creo que merece una sólida calificación de 4.5/5 estrellas. No es nada perfecto, pero considero que es hermoso en sus imperfecciones, y justo por ellas.. lo recomendaría para cualquier persona que busque una historia, que sea un poco desgarradora y a la vez esperanzadora.. y bueno, esta sería la reseña de hoy.
