The imposing Teresa Carreño Theater in Venezuela, one of my great loves of modern architecture [Eng-Esp]
Ríos Reyna Hall
I needed to start this post with the best picture.... Hello friends of Architecture + Desing! Long time no greetings. These last weeks I've had a lot, a lot of work in the musical medium, but believe me I've saved the best of Caracas architecture to share it with you, and this post is an example of what I'm telling you. A couple of weeks ago the date was at the famous Teatro Teresa Carreño, which by the way has just been remodeled and looks more amazing than ever. In the cover photo you can see the interior of the Ríos Reyna Hall, seen from the stage.
Pic of 2012
As I said before, it is one of the best known theaters in my country, and for artists it is a dream to be able to perform here. I had the opportunity to sing for the first time in the Rios Reyna Hall in 2012, when I was still living in Maracay. I remember it was one of the best concerts of my life, Verdi's Requiem conducted by Gustavo Dudamel. From the first moment I fell in love with the theater facilities and I knew every corner from day one of the rehearsals. In this post I intend to show you the facilities that can be seen by the general public, the waiting areas, rest areas, ticket offices and gardens.
I shared with you the photo from 2012 because as you can see above, it was a very cloudy day and it did not help me with the photography of the facade; even so I share with you both images. I am not a connoisseur of architecture and theaters, but comparing it with others in the same city of Caracas it is obvious that it is very modern. It is not very old, I am almost sure they were built in the 70's or 80's, but it is very different from the classic theater where the rooms are circular, or those that have several floors of seats to the top of the theater, such as Alla Scala in Milan, Italy. From the outside you can see that its design is interesting, innovative and elegant.
Since I have known the theater I have noticed that the floor is always very clean and the facilities are very well lit, you can tell that they take great care of the building. No wonder, important national and international artists perform here. It has the Ríos Reyna Hall, which is the largest, and the José Félix Ribas Hall, which is smaller. It also has exhibition halls, cafeterias and many rehearsal rooms and dressing rooms. I think it is the only theater in which I have sung that has escalators, and this is due to its magnitude. In the image below you can see that they show the small scale model design of it, and that can be seen in the corridors, before entering the concert hall.
In the picture below you can see these structures hanging from the ceilings. I don't know who designs them or what they are called; I only know that it is very common to find them here in Caracas and they are beautiful and very elegant. In the Teresa Carreño Theater you can see them in white and yellow, I leave you a picture of each one. Once my girlfriend @Jhoxiris told me that those cylinders are made of bamboo; I don't know if it's true, but I think it's wonderful, besides not representing a danger of being hung that way. In fact the breeze moves them with force. but they are well fastened.
In these three photographs above you can appreciate the architecture of the room. It is full of balconies, many entrances and dare I say it, thousands of lights. Those panels on the ceiling not only look great, but they also help to improve the acoustics of the room. As you can see in the first photo, in front of the stage is the orchestra pit, so it is perfect for opera concerts, which is what took place on the day I took the photos. The stage itself is huge. In 2012 we had more than a thousand people singing in the choir and the orchestra had more than 200 instrumentalists (here at the end I will share that video with you so you can see how many people fit on the stage). Another interesting feature is that the stage is rotating, so you can easily change the scenery and from the audience it looks very impressive. In the last photo you can see some of the material with which they bring the stages to life. A whole dream world can be created in the Ríos Reyna Hall.
The green areas and the spaces surrounding the theater are also very beautiful and well maintained. There is a lot of vegetation because it borders Los Caobos Park in Caracas, which gives me the impression of a small forest in the middle of the city. There are lots of flowers and spaces to sit and hang out. You don't have to have tickets for a performance to go to the Teresa Carreño; over the years it has become a beautiful plaza where you can walk or do activities like yoga or choreography. It also borders my university of the arts, and in fact connects to the theater through the subway part. It is definitely another world full of magic.
These pictures were taken with my Tecno Pova II and do not have any editing. Although I show you the best captures, I feel that I still do not do the deserved honors to this palace of art in Venezuela. As I mentioned before, I say goodbye sharing with you this video recorded in 2012 that shows what can be the magnitude and imposing of this famous concert hall. I also leave you with a photograph of a moment that shocked me as a spectator, which is to see a huge ship leaving from the back of the hall amid smoke, while the stage is turning and the ship is approaching you, full of many people singing in the Opera Martirios de Colón. One imagines everything, except seeing a ship approaching you in the middle of the city, a hug to all and thank you!

With Gustavo Dudamel in Teresa Carreño, 2012
Dear brother, how are you? 😅❤️..
This is a beautiful post of a collection of information.
For real, when you were with a lot of hair, like the curly one looks good on you for real❤️
I'm talking about the 2012 picture.
It's so refreshing to go through this post especially with the fact that I'm done with my exams.
I'll be more active now on hive!
I remember there was a time you told me that you are not so good with discord 😅...
It's understandable.
I left you a message in your dm.
Can you find time to check it out?
I liked that hair, but it was a little complicated to maintain. There are many interesting places with great stories in Venezuela, and without a doubt this theater is iconic in the city of Caracas. I appreciate you visiting my post and contacting me through this medium. At the end of my posts I put the social networks by which I usually respond faster, but I live very busy lately, I think the most direct medium is Hive, I am too enthusiastic about blockchain...
Greetings @jesuslnrs, I have not yet had the opportunity to visit the Teresa Carreño theater, I imagine a very exciting experience to see a ship come out on stage and many people singing, the design is really beautiful and the spaces look preserved and very clean, I liked it the exhibition room and its beautiful works, also the photo number 7 and the arrangement of the lights in the room, surely they must create a great atmosphere in each presentation.
Happy weekend!
Hi friend, it's always a pleasure to greet you! Indeed they have all the tools to provide a high quality experience to the public, and over the years they keep updating their technology. I love that they take so much care of the facilities, this theater as well as any important building in the country should be cared for and respected, even by the visitors themselves. I wish everyone could understand that. I wish that one day you will have the opportunity to visit this beautiful theater in Caracas, I send you a hug, my Belkys...!
I imagine that you have also lived wonderful moments in the Teresa Carreño, especially I imagine you in a rock concert hehe.
