The BlockTunes A&R Program: Bring In Artists, They Mint Music, You Get Paid

In the traditional music industry, A&R stands for Artists and Repertoire. It's the job of finding talent and bringing it to a label. The people who do it well are the ones who heard greatness before anyone else did, who spotted the artist in the small venue and sent them on the journey to their sold-out arena runs.

In the traditional industry model, A&R reps get paid by the label. They take a salary, maybe a bonus, and the artist they signed sometimes never sees them again.

BlockTunes has a different model. If you find an artist and bring them to the platform using your referral code, you earn a percentage of their streaming revenue automatically, on every qualifying play, forever. No label involved. No boss to ask for your cut. The protocol handles it.

How It Works

Every BlockTunes user has a referral link:

https://app.blocktunes.net/listen?ref=yourusername

Share that link with an artist. When they visit it before they log in or sign up for the first time, your Hive username is stored as their A&R rep. That association is permanent and on-chain.

From the moment they mint their first track, 5% of every streaming payout from every track they ever mint comes directly to you on every qualifying play. Automatically. No claiming. No check-in. It just arrives in your Hive wallet.

The Math

An artist you referred mints a track and it gets 100 qualifying plays a day.

Each qualifying play sends 0.005 HIVE directly to your wallet as the A&R rep.

100 plays a day: 0.5 HIVE per day. Just from that one artist.

Now imagine you referred 5 artists, each with 100 plays a day: 2.5 HIVE per day. From sharing a link.

That HIVE is real value you can take anywhere. Swap it for Bitcoin, cash out, power up your Hive account, it's not locked to the platform. It just lands in your wallet.

The rate is fixed. There is no halving schedule, no expiration, no fine print. What you earn per play today is what the protocol pays.

Your A&R Dashboard

Log in and find the A&R Dashboard under your profile menu. It shows:

  • Every artist you've referred
  • Their total play count
  • Your total earnings from each one
  • A complete history of every individual payout

Every streaming reward transaction is broadcast on-chain with a memo that identifies exactly what track triggered the payout. Full transparency. No black box.

What Happens If No One Referred the Artist?

If an artist signed up without going through anyone's referral link, the 5% A&R share routes back to the artist instead. They earn 55% of every streaming payout until someone legitimately earns that slot, which, once set, doesn't change.

Who Should Be Doing This

Music curators and influencers. If people already follow your recommendations, you're already doing A&R work for free. Now there's a revenue stream attached to it.

Community builders. If you run a Discord, a Telegram, a music blog, or any community where artists hang out, your referral link belongs in your bio right now. Oh and we have a Discord server too that we are building some really cool things for... Just FYI...

Artists referring other artists. If you're already on BlockTunes and you know musicians who should be here, send them your link. You earn from their plays while they earn from their music. Everyone benefits.

Anyone who believes in the platform. You don't have to be a music industry insider. You just have to know people who make music and be willing to tell them about a place that pays them fairly.

There's No Limit

There's no cap on how many artists you can refer. There's no cap on how long your A&R relationship with an artist lasts. There's no way for the platform to reassign your slot once it's established. If you referred them, you earn from them, for as long as they're on BlockTunes.

One-Click Sharing With Your Referral Link Built In

We just shipped a feature that makes this even easier. When you mint a track in the Studio, a Share Your Release button appears the moment the mint succeeds. It opens a share panel pre-filled with a ready-to-post message and your referral link already embedded in the URL. You can edit the copy, hit Enhance to have the AI punch it up, or post straight to X in one click.

Every Masters series page also has a Share button. So if you hold masters of a track you love, or you don't even have to own it, you can just love it and want to share, you can share it the same way, your referral link in the URL, your cut of streaming rewards on every new listener who signs up through it.

This was a direct feature request from community member @elementm, who asked the right question and pointed us toward something the platform needed. That's how this gets built, people in the community telling us what would make it better, and us shipping it. This person even did it using Harmony and submitted a feature request the way we designed it to work! So it's a win win all the way around! It means we built something that works!

That was a great feature request but sadly the credit for that one belongs to someone else. I was the one to request the vocal booth tho (which was also added in almost instantly 👍🥳👍)

It said it came from you... LOL... Harmony must be making up feature requests, lol. But we did read the little bit of convo that comes in with the request and say you asking about the costs... We have simplified the new Masters platform to be a 2 credit flat fee for minting, no matter if you mint 1 or 10. But yes, users can delegate HP for access but never mint, so the whitelisting fee is a separation thing. The whitelisting fee triggers some things on the backend that gives you access to various menu items like your Artist Dashboard, etc. you can also use your credits to get whitelisted as well, that regenerate the next day, so all that you really need to do is delegate Hive Power

And as far as minting... it uses credits, which if you are a whitelisted artist, you get 8 per day that renew every 24 hours, so minting is essentially free.

Alright, go Harmony (if you’re going to make up feature requests, make good ones) 😂! And practically free minting sounds great 👍

Cool. And if she's learning from user interactions maybe asking her for a weekly or monthly suggestion might reveal another gem 🤔

Una reproducción válida genera automáticamente 0.005 hive directo a tu billetera? (en líquido?)

Cool

Make sure if your bands sign up, that they use your referral link in your dashboard! This way yes, you will earn forever when those tracks stream on our platform.
