80's vibes

I wasn't planning to write about this experience we had last weekend, but when I saw the weekend themes proposed by Galenkp I got bored and threw aside the embarrassment to ridicule 😜🤣. Here goes our participation in a musical event held in one of my favorite places in the city.

In the heart of Havana's Vedado there is a place that I love, I have already said it in other publications, the Yellow Submarine. It is a cultural center that struggles daily to keep good music alive and to give a space to Cuban rock bands.

There are always bands that play live their own music or cover emblematic songs of all times. The public is very etherogeneous and there are some that every weekend find there the perfect place to feed the soul.

For years, every Sunday from 4:00 pm the place opens its doors for a matinee until 8:00 pm. A recent initiative is to make this space a theme party and at the end of the evening, the best performance wins a prize. Last Sunday was an 80's party and my husband, daughter, sister and brother-in-law and I went there in our best costumes.

We arrived around 5 o'clock under a downpour, but the band (Gens) was already playing and to our surprise the place was quite full, so we had to stay in the back. What a way to dance!! It had been a long time since we had been to the "Submarine" and this was the first time for my daughter, who had a great time. We completely forgot to take pictures of the band, at the end we took, with his permission, a picture of their director.

The evening was hilarious, worth repeating. We plan to do it even once a month, so maybe you will see us again in our best costumes 😜. I will tell you that my brother-in-law (the one in the pink shirt) won the prize, it was to be expected because he was...unbeatable!!! 🤣 What do you guys think?

Hi @mipiano!!! Yeeesss, it was really so much fun. My husband and his brother love to shake a leg... although I don't think they're very professional 🤣. Oh dear...what have we done...there were no flowers in our outfits!!! 😭🤣. Linda semana y abrazos para todos.

Gosh I lived through the 80s, but I never dressed like that 😆😆 Too young probably. By the time I was 18 we were knocking on the door of the 90s. Looks like a fun time!

Hello @riverflows. The idea was to satirize the era a bit to add to the fun of the moment 🤭😆. Personally, even though I was little in those years, I like what I've seen of the fashion from that time. It was fun and the music...the best part. Thank you for your comment and have a lovely week. Greetings.

Thanks for the comment about the photos, the low lighting wasn't very helpful, especially with a phone, but we captured the memory. The vibe at the Submarino is always the best. Greetings.
