Auditioning to become a professional singer.

Hi friends of this amazing community where weekends are never boring. It is almost a miracle the fact of me posting content today because here in Cuba blackouts are worst than ever, but that is not the main point. Today in the morning as I said in the tittle, I was auditioning with another friends with a dream in common: to be a professional singer.

The previous week we had that new and we all got excited when we knew that we are going to have the possibility to sing in front of some of the most recognised singers in Pinar del Río. We were waiting for this kind of opportunity maybe for years, and finally today was the day.

I have always sung, because I remember me when I was a child singing and participating in various competitions and activities held by the professors of the Culture House (the place where we have preparation and mentorships in the different cultural manifestations), but I had never realised me as a true artist. I have been always into teaching and foreign languages, specifically English and French, but not deeper into music. It was more like a hobbie and something I do to have fun and be in another world, forget problems and make people happy.

I really enjoy teaching and sharing my knowledge with my students, but I know that this is an opportunity that I was not looking for, it just came to me like that destiny things. And for that reason you have to take it and do not let it go.

Yesterday we had a meeting to concrete details for today's presentation such as location, time, and possible songs to sing. In spite of our preparation we were nervous, but confident at the same time.

My aunt took the audition too, so we went to the place early morning. We went the first ones there. After us, the rest of our friends started to arrive. My little sister was with us. She is always supporting us in everything.

Before starting the judges had a meeting with all the aspirants to introduce the activity, tell us the main objectives, the parameters to take into account and to wish us luck and support us, because once before, they were like us.

Going back to me. At the beginning I was relaxed, but when my time was closer I started to become nervous too. I felt prepared for that, but the previous ones had to sing with a live instrument that could be a piano or a guitar.

When was my turn, I started with "Vereda Tropical" of the popular musician Gonzalo Curriel and the next one was "Over the Rainbow", the original version of Judy Garland in her performance of "The Wizard of Oz ", but with the piano.

I felt so good while singing! I forgot the rest of the world and it was only the piano and me. At the end I had the applauses of the public and the congratulations of my friends and family. My mom was also there. I can not complain about my family. My father was calling and asking all the time to know the results. I am really happy about today.

At the end, the judges made a demonstration of their art and great talent

Now we have to wait for the judge's decision...
