The little witch of the Palco Hotel. Saturday Selections # 10.

A few years ago, perhaps more than I remember, a rather strange woman with very red eyes read my palm, predicting that I would be one of those people who would travel extensively around the world. And since that wasn't perhaps the answer I was looking for when I left there all I had in my mind was a stupid anger and a tremendous feeling of having been cheated.
When you're young, you want to try to find answers about future realities that only the harsh experience of life can reveal to you without embellishment, without concealment, and with a frankness as cold as that of a body in the grip of rigor mortis... so don't sit around waiting for miracles or revelations to happen to you before their due time.
But, the truth is... the truth is, after all, I think the lady was right, and I judged her very harshly... Sir! In the last 10 months of the year, I've traveled more than in the last 12 years of my life... and although they were, or are, business trips, I can't help but admit that they've been fabulous from every point of view, including when accompanied by that delightful thought that infects human beings very quickly when they think they're beginning to discover the world...like children.
Almost two weeks ago, on Sunday, I had to travel again unexpectedly. I told you about work, right? I was going to the capital of my country, Havana, and there we would stay at the Hotel Palco, a property connected to the Convention Center, a prestigious venue where national and international events and conferences are held... and although my sessions wouldn't be there, I must confess that I loved the place.
I know that many people wouldn't want to work far from their homes, their families, their everyday life... but I think doing so from time to time opens many doors and professional horizons... although for me it also means getting to know places I'd never be able to access on my own, even if it's just business trips.
One of the things that impressed me about this place was that: the design of its rooms is structurally the same as that used in the summer hotels in Varadero. As if the construction companies in my country were governed by a single architectural concept... or maybe it's just me who knows nothing about facilities of this type and there's a formalized label for it... although in reality, they're all very nice and comfortable, and I'm not complaining, okay?
There was also the fact of wanting to escape. I would know that I could temporarily escape from a dark reality that suffocates and annihilates (the extensive blackout)... because behind your reality there will always be other realities. And the world is not always the color you imagine, and the more you know about the outside world, the better you will be able to value your own.
But what was I talking about? True!! My trip to the Palco Hotel. But I'll be brief.
The service was good, the cleanliness impeccable, the menu decent, the facilities comfortable, and the atmosphere excellent for working... yes, you can definitely feel comfortable working, even on a weekend, in places like these... it goes without saying.
I also brought my headphones, and during the times when we weren't working, I simply put on my music and let myself be swept away by its soothing power... my eyes were tired from reviewing numbers, regulations, concepts, heavy tasks, veryyyyyy long names of chemical reagents, and hundreds of cost sheets to calculate... exhausting.
But the music always saves me, soothes me, and undoes in a second the squeaky throb that pounds my right temple after hearing the first chords of music... I listened to many songs those nights, but I recommend these firsthand.

I only hope that the little witch who predicted the matter of my trips continues to strive and fulfills what she said... perhaps, who knows, she's no longer a little witch and just a simple, ordinary woman.
Always very grateful for your reading.

I think travelling is great, look at all the beautiful places you can see... I think travelling is the best way to have varied experiences and learn... it's a beautiful hotel... and I could see the garden through the windows! And the music... what a beautiful selection, I especially love the last two! Thank you! And if what the little witch told you was good, then so be it!
Traveling is a privilege. Although some people prefer the warmth of their home and the security of walking through their homeland alongside their people, traveling gives you a much-needed and therapeutic respite... just think how much happier, healthier, and more hard-working people there are. I think Europeans have had a great advantage over other world inhabitants, as they've been able to enjoy more accessible tourism just by walking through old Europe.
As for the little witch... Mmmm... I had more powers than she did... A hug, my friend, happy Sunday to you.
I think I like balance, travelling and home, a little bit of both... long live witches like us, haha!

I also had fortune tellers predict things that came true. Some people can look into the future and make us think about this world.
