Bringing the "Music Community" back to Hive... CALL TO ACTION
Many of you that have been with #Hive for 4+ years might recall that we used to have a thriving Web3 music community. The biggest in crypto. With the death of Steemit openmic many of those participating went looking for greener pastures with the advent of #NFTs.
Right now Im in a project planning phase to revive our music community and bring in musicians from all across the ecosystem back to Hive and offer them incentives to maintain their presence here.
Hive empowers communities and while other blockchains focus on VCs and quick profits we derive value from users and a growing community.
I am looking for anyone that is involved with any music ecosystem in and outside crypto that is willing to help me gauge interest in a Web3 music competition with substantial cash prizes on a weekly basis.
With that in mind last night I went on one of the more active twitter spaces hosted by
@ZironiVioletta to present the idea and talk about Hive. I will continue to do so.
NFTs will still remain the most lucrative option for the better known names in the NFT space but this would allow for lesser known talent to shine and start up in this space.
Stay tuned.
This is a good initiative that A project to revitalize the music community is in the planning stage. Good luck to you.
I'm looking forward to updates! 👍
Will do. Let me know if you have any friends in the wider music space, maybe some that arent on Hive (that is who we want here) that would find a simple weekly competition with prizes worth their time
Both, @steevc and I have some; some are already on here but pretty much inactive.
Your incentive might reactivate their interest in posting again!
Any others will get nudge to join.. ;)
That is the point. Getting people not on Hive to Hive. If you have a twitter account ill DM you the google form that you can share with inactive users and anyone new that would be interested.
Id rather this not be shared on Hive since the point of it is to attract new people. Ofc Hivers can participate as well but in the initial phase I want to get at least a 100 musicians not on Hive right now to come to Hive.
I'd love to see that happen. I run a couple of musician communities, but they are not too active. I have recruited a few people I play with already. Some others are just not really interested, but then they may not do other social media either.
I would hope that the pro and semi-pro musicians already here do talk about Hive to their friends. Getting the fans on here too is essential as they can benefit whilst supporting the music they enjoy.
Let me know if I can help.
I sent you a message on Twitter.
Music for sure could be a big part of Hive but yet again people produce music to make money it's normally their job or a strong side hustle they have going on.
If Hive can come up with a streaming platform that pays more than a 7 day payout window and pays out like spotify, youtube etc then it most likely would have a bit of a shot. But the current structure of hive and zero revenue generation is going to be an issue for any real adoption here. NFT and music is rather dead. IMO revenue generation for their works that's evergreen income is going to be the critical part to really have music thrive here.
Also, yes I work with a number of music content creators and that's primarily their feedback as well in the past. It's not a focal point for them but instead a way to make a little extra quickly from their music.
A simple weekly contest worked in the past. At a point it had hundreds of participants but funds werent there. In the end they gave out something like 20-50 USD in total. Thats nothing.
We already have infrastructure in place to deliver that at a high level now with funding. Developing anything new if there are not users is imo a waste of time. We first need to use to the fullest what we have.
That is what this changes. It creates a simple option with minimal effort for receiving what are essentially starting funds for starting up musicians.
where are those funds generated from?
The music space is actully huge and having that on hive would be a massive boost in both users coming to listen and content creators with lots of talent.
ValuePlan will provide funds for starters. Thats why I will be looking for musicians outside Hive. New people are the goal and bringing those that left back. Now that NFTs are a thing many of them have decent followings and winners would ofc spread the word futher.
Last night I was on a big NFt space and got followed by guys with 200k followers between them for speaking for 2 minutes. (ofc a large chunk of them arent active but many are) This gives an opportunity to talk Hive to everyone outside Hive. Something we arent doing NEARLY enough.
It all depends on the details. I've been making music for many years, but Hive (and before that Steem) has never (in my opinion) been the best place for musicians making music in less popular languages.
My wife won a steemit openmic with this so I wouldnt necessarily agree and the original contest was in 2 languages.
That would continue into the future with this project.
I think the right approach would be asking the musicians to come here and make them do stuff that would drive the hive economy. Like put on shows or assets here that would increase cost of hive and also put it in circulation. So in short music community needs to use hive in some way to build economy. I think paywall, NFT type stuff would help more in this context.
No one will come here for free to put paywalls that dont exist on any of our frontends on their content that isnt listed by any algo for rewards that might or might not come. Once we get them here we can think about that.
They will come if there are financial incentives and they will bring their audience with them for the same reason.
There is a difference between what we want them to do and what theyre willing to do.
If we want more users here we do what they want us to do.
Incredible initiative, I am ready and willing to get involved and help
❤️
I know that my wife was involved in the music community called Hive Open Mic, which still exists... As we at @ourpick support the best posts from there... Check it out at: https://peakd.com/c/hive-105786/created
But, our Hive musicians indeed need more exposure as they deserve it! If you want, maybe you can contact @jesuslnrs about the idea that you have (he is an admin of that community)... He would gladly contribute if he can!
Cheers!
Everyone can definitely get involved and promotion basically starts on Twitter for any musician. Thats the purpose of this. Getting those on Twitter to come to hive, enjoy their time, and promote Hive to their audiences of hundreds of thousands.
Hi friend! In fact, since the beginning of Hive there is the Hive Open Mic community, which is about to reach its 200th week soon.
Until last July we were a community incubated by OCD and it was very successful, but I have several months looking for a secure support for the participants.
I would like you to visit the community, it is established and we just need incentives for it not to die, there are several curators involved.
I have been following your guys work and its great what you have been doing. This is a new project im starting with more of an outward focus.
Im right now talking to the NFT musicians that for now havent had an incentive to try Hive in order to bring them onboard.
We will be promoting this new project on Twitter spaces to large audiences, like I did last night, and Im sure by leading these new musicians and audiences to Hive your project can find success as well through that.
Wonderful, I hope that a lot of musicians will really come motivated by the incentives, I feel that is all that is needed is massive support so that participation is constant. I also hope to be able to contribute to this musical space and I wish it every success 🙌
I think music or video blog is not suitable for seven-day rewards system, they would prefer lifetime rewards platform such as Youtube.
Have you thought about collabs with @RisingStarGame? They will probably can help on showcasing musicians and making promos , and they probably have a nice audience too! #Risingstar #hivegaming #bro
The first step now is to attract new musicians to Hive and their audiences. From there I will definitely work with existing Hive projects.
Some of my friends are also working on this platform and they are very fond of music, so I will try to bring them inside it and they can also show their talent here.
It will be cool to revive the community
It will be a very good one
I’m goad
What about people from real life? (not Twitter).
I'm onboarding musicians that come through my recording studio (@recording-box) We can totally do a Hive Open mic from our Hive stage with Hive logos and all. It would be fun.
Check out some of the recording sessions we've made.
We will definitely be targeting those outside of crypto as well. Just give me a few days to set up everything we need before getting them an account for this. I want to track signups that are related to the music competition so we can get a sense if its worthwhile or not for Hive and if it is bringing in new people.
New users, new people are the whole point of this.
Awesome Lord!
Well if it's something that works, count on me to help bring new musicians to our home.
Very cool you're doing this. I'll keep my eyes open.
I´m in for sure!! Great idea! !PIZZA !DHEDGE
