A fan’s dream came true; walk the life of the famous singer Selena through SELENA’s Museum in Corpus Christi, Texas
For a Filipina like me who loves singing, and in almost every Filipino's party and special occasions “videoke” or “karaoke” will always be a part of it. “Dreaming of You” a song by Selena is a household name, and I expect people of all ages to always sing and know this song by heart.
Cause I'm dreaming of you tonight
'Til tomorrow, I'll be holding you tight
And there's nowhere in the world I'd rather be
Than here in my room
Dreaming about you and me
That is the chorus of the famous song that everybody loves. Who is Selena? Selena Quintanilla-Perez was an American singer-songwriter, known as the “Queen of Tejano Music”. She was a well-loved Latin singer and a native of Texas. She was tragically killed by her fan club’s president last March 1995. And last 1997, a movie or biopic of Selena’s life was shown in theatres and was portrayed by Jennifer Lopez.
A guide will meet you at the entrance of the Museum and she will lead you inside and walk you through, telling the life story of Selena and her career as a singer. In Selena’s Museum, you will see a collection of things that Selena used and owned. Like the dolls of Selena when she was young, as shown in the picture.
The pieces of jewelry that she was wearing, her cell phone and guitar that she used to play, and some clothes that she wore in her shows and pictorials.
These are some of the collections and memorabilia that you can see inside Selena’s Museum. Some of them are the costumes and gowns she wore in her concerts and the recognition and awards she received for her Albums.
This is proof that she made an impact in the music industry at such a young age. It’s just like walking down memory lane. As a fan, I can’t help but smile seeing my idol’s memorabilia right before my very eyes. It’s just sad that she is no longer with us, but her memories will always remain in all her fan's hearts around the world.
Selena was 23 years old when she passed away and it was a terrible loss not just for her family and the music industry but also for her fans around the world who in one way or another were inspired by her songs. The museum showed me how her life was from childhood until the very last peak of her career. Life is indeed very short to waste on something that’s not worth it and unimportant. I also learned not to trust and not to put your guard down easily. “Not everyone has your best interest at heart. Sometimes the one person you’d take a bullet for ends up being the one behind the gun.”

Thank you very much @suarlex for taking the time to read the blog. Yes, I bet Selena is very happy wherever she is now, that despite only living a short life she has achieved a lot.
Que gran oportunidad de visitar ese sitio. Yo siempre fui fan de Selena. Sentí y lloré mucho su muerte tan joven, talentosa, alegre. Hoy sería una Diva. Muchas gracias por compartir tu experiencia.
You're welcome @kpoulout. I am glad to know that you are a fan of Selena too. Yes, I agree that she was young, talented, and full of life. Sadly, she died not in a very pleasing way. Thank you for reading my blog.😀
Yes, that song got very popular here too. Even until now, it still sounds nostalgic especially that it's somewhat connected to tragedy. You are lucky to have visited Selena Museum; it's every fan's dream to get close to their fave artist even though it's only through those memorabilia. What happened to her really was unexpected and truly devastating. I agree, putting our trust on someone needs to have a limitation.
Thank you very much @bettsmarie09 for the wonderful comment and for reading my blog. Yes, you are one of the witnesses of how people in the Philippines love "Dreaming of You" and always sing this song all the time. Even the new generations such as Generation Z and Generation Alpha can still sing her songs now.
Such a wonderful visit!!! Thanks for sharing with us
