ʜᴏᴡ ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴅᴇғɪɴᴇ ᴍᴜsɪᴄ: ᴇʀᴀ & ᴍᴜsɪᴄ ʟʏʀɪᴄs
Based on individual differences and perspective of the elements that makes a good song we now have a lot of music genres, each created to satisfy the longing of the audience in return they are geared towards it like magnet. When I say this article isn't to judge anyone's taste in music, I mean it. As an individual with diverse knowledge in human relations and communication techniques I'm quite aware of how difference in perspective on subject like this could cause a drift among the readers but this isn't about which genre of song is better, more like what makes a song, a song. Have you ever thought about it?
Never studied music, in fact I'm very feeble in the use on musical instruments, I'm just a person who loves music not because of anything spectacular. My love for music borders around its influence on my mind, I'm an individual with a complex mind, I have the habit of thinking about things that look so simple to others in a different way, always trying to find meaning to everything, so you can guess how messy my thoughts must be. At the heights of it I develop headaches and sometimes fever, it makes you wonder how something that occurs inside could have so much impact on the outside.
Till someday a solution came from nowhere, can't really say how I came across it. Somehow I figured out music assist me in processing my thoughts whenever I have a lot to think about. Infact anytime I'm writing music is always on, it makes the whole process smooth and faster, like a guide directing my thoughts. So, what does music mean to someone like me? It is therapeutic, something that helps cools my soul in ways words can't describe.
Sadly not so many songs qualifies as being therapeutic not to talk of a song, I'm quite aware that mucic serves all kind of purpose but have you ever listened to song beyond or without the boom - boom - bang and slowly your mind connect with the lyrics like you are being spoken to, a song that lightens up your soul and make you cheerful against all odds, when last did you listen to such song? The true essence of music has gotten lost in the sound, A song is meant to communicate a message which can only be found in the lyrics and without it all we have is noise. I once listened to a song: Eyes of the untold by Lindsey Stirling throughout the song she didn't say any word, it was just musical instruments playing but it was so pleasing and I got curious about it, I ended up watching the musical video and I must say the message became a lot clearer and I was overcomed. I wouldn't deny the essence of sound in a song but it shouldn't be the only thing that defines a song.
It makes you wonder at what point did start going wrong? In my country in those days we used to have a lot of good songs with amazing lyrics, it is not as if we don't have bad ones too in those days but they were not rampant, the funny aspect of it is that even the bad once in those days, still have some good lyrics their delivery is just bad. Compared to now that we can barely identify the good ones, the bad ones have overwhelmed the good ones, in fact they get appraised than the good ones. In the first paragraph I stated that every of music is created to appease a specific audience, in recent times it seems the need of the audience and their acknowledgement has led a lot of musicians astray, so it is kind of hard to point fingers at who is at fault for this musical pandemic.
One thing I'm sure of is that in those days there used to be a lot of governmental regulations in the music industry compared to now, any music that glorifies crime, drugs or violence will be banned but gradually such regulations began to fade or should I say the value of such regulations reduced significantly. As a result of this we now have a lot of unpleasant song plaguing the street, the funny thing is sometimes I find it difficult to know if it is the artist singing or the influence of weed because that is all we see with most of them while they record in their Studio, I mean no offence but I strongly believe good lyrics comes from a clear head.
Looking for a possible solution to cleanse our society from this menace caused by unhealthy music is like diving into labyrinth but then it is worth giving a try. Lets first bring back governmental regulations in full force we have countries like south Korea that instantly remove songs or movies that they consider unethical or immoral from their mainstream. It might seem they are being too cultural but at least in terms of unhealthy music there situation is a lot better than ours. Speaking of musicians adding more effort in improving their lyrics also seem like a nice suggestion but without cleansing our society other musicians will always find themselves following the same path moreover how many musician these days understands music, knowing how to sing is not enough, how you sing also matters a lot.

My playlist is flooded with songs from yearssss back. I don't know what's in vogue. I don't recall the last time I downloaded popular music. They get tiring after a while, even before making good enough rounds, so I don't bother.
On my end, music seems to not be doing much. I might be wrong. I know for certain that many releases are made daily, yet it seems like there's almost nothing. It's bad.
That is true, in those days music were sang because of the passion for it but all we have these days are money driven artists which affects the standard of their music.

You are so right, the songs we listened to in the olden days were far better than what we listen to now. Everyone just wants to make money
Exactly 💯
You are so right 👍
We are gullible and we just want to make money and be popular by polluting the world.
Well that is the mindset of most musicians we have now.
May God help them🙏
Some songs are quite special with better lyrics and heart to listen to again and again and such songs are not made by today's singers. They used to bring good things for the people.
Exactly, songs that heals but it seems all we have these days is the opposite.
Yeah.
Congratulations!
