The bagpipers of the east in Bolivar Square (Eng/Esp)
English version
Music as a social phenomenon allows us to enjoy and share, and in many cases to convey happy, sad, or melancholic stories, transporting us to the past or the future depending on what is heard or interpreted. Venezuelan music has endless forms and styles, one of which is the Zuliana gaita, which is used during the Christmas season as a cultural and folkloric expression, as is customary in towns throughout Venezuela.

Today I would like to introduce you to a musical-cultural group that gathered in Bolívar Square, called Gaiteros de Oriente, all residents of the city of Cumana, that is, a group from Sucre. This musical event was completely free of charge. When asked, one of the musicians said: "We do this activity as a gift to the city of Cumana."

This type of music is performed, as can be seen in the photograph, with: cuatro, drum, farruco, piano, charrasca, and congas. We are very grateful to this musical group for this beautiful gesture.
