Barn Jam In B&W

There's just something about the lingering smell of curing tobacco that makes an old barn seem like a perfect place for a pickin' and a grinnin'. A couple weekends ago we snuck down to Loving Farm in Nepton, Kentucky to see if we couldn't partake.

The tobacco don't hang in the Nepton Warehouse anymore but the band Hogtown was hanging with a pretty good crowd when we got there. We made it just as the sun was going down and the music was picking up.

Weren't many lights hanging though, some strings of lights running along the sides of the barn and a green light illuminating the stage. Made the color shots look like night vision goggles were involved.

Had brought my camera along but even with a f/1.8 50mm on it I had to set the ISO high enough it could have hung tobacco. Was having too much of a time to let that worry me, the band was really jamming.

All good things must end, and eventually it was only the bass player, me, and a dog that'd randomly turned up for the show left. When it got time to pack the bass up the dog accidentally brushed the strings and got rather excited at the result, so he got an impromptu encore of 'Miller's Song.' This seemed to placate the canine and the bass player was able to escape intact.

Thank you! Wasn't at all sure how it was going to turn out with the limited light but it ended up turning out better than I'd expected.

It was great. Lol, Miller (the name we'd given the doggo) was having a grand old time! We were slightly concerned the dog was having too good of a time to go home afterwards 🤣

If it wasn't for your words, the idea of that evening would not have had all that ‘colour’ and smell for me. Although the photos are undoubtedly wonderful.

Thank you for sharing such a great work!
