Hard Rock Hotel $20 silver gaming token/ Re-blog lottery
Over the last couple months I've been sharing some of the fun Silver Strikers commemorative tokens that could be won by playing the Silver Strikers slot machines at casinos around the world. Often they can be one of the few reminders of hotels and casinos that have been closed permanently when the could no longer pay their loan payments. Today I wanted to share another piece of Las Vegas history with another token that came from a casino that no longer exists.
The Hard Rock Hotel opened it's doors in 1995 just off of the Las Vegas Strip. It was the first hotel that was themed with rock n roll and was rather small when compared to the much larger hotel/resorts all along the Strip. They even had The Eagles and Sheryl Crow play at their grand opening! Sadly it didn't take long before the hotel ran into cash flow problems and multiple changes in ownership ensued. It was renovated and expanded several times but ultimately closed it's doors for good in 2020 after Virgin Hotels bought them out.
One interesting fact that I didn't know is that actor Ben Affleck was permanently banned from the Hard Rock's black jack tables in 2014 on suspicion of card counting. Back when the mafia ran Las Vegas if you were caught counting cards you weren't banned, you most likely ended up with broken fingers or in a shallow grave in the desert! So I guess Ben got off easy...

This token is a real beauty! The silver is electroplated with 24 karat gold in what they call "heavy gold electroplate". How that differs from standard electroplating I have never been able to figure out. It's one of the prettier tokens that I own, and if recall I think I bought it off eBay . Since they are 99.9% silver they're also great for collectors and stackers!
In front of the Hard Rock Hotel they had a large Fender Stratocaster as their sign, at the time of installation it was the largest Fender Stratocaster in the world. However it now been disassembled and was sold off after the closure of the hotel. But I found this picture of the iconic guitar:

The Fender Stratocaster electric guitar was first released for sale in 1954 and has been produced ever since. It featured three pickups and a spring tension vibrato system allowing a temporary pitch change on the strings. Over the years it has gone under many changes and evolutions to improve the sound. It has been the guitar of choice for many legendary guitarist like Jimi Hendrix, Pete Townsend, and Eddie Van Halen. Van Halen combined parts of various guitars to the Stratocaster body to produce the Frankenstrat in an effort to produce unique sounds that no other guitar could replicate. There is a copy of it on display in the National Museum of American History which is part of The Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C.

The Hard Rock Hotel didn't last very long and is now part of Las Vegas history... but at least you can still own a piece of history with the Silver Striker tokens!

Nope my friend ended up not even showing up! So that saved me a hundred bucks! Lol
Ammo is so expensive anymore... I had a friend who has a 50 caliber machine gun in New Mexico who offered to let me go out and shoot. I could never afford it though, each round was $5, I would have needed around $500 bucks minimum to even have any fun!
Each round is like five bucks and even the empty brass is still worth a lot of money! I absolutely feel that...
I was lucky enough to score some 458 socom rounds at $1.33 a piece. Which they wanted 90 cents a piece for the brass that was empty! Just absolutely crazy.
It all costs a fortune anymore! Unless you shoot of crap ammunition. I once fired a Makarov with some cheap Russian ammo. Out of a box of 50 two were misfires and turned my fingers yellow from all the sulfur in the powder. Never did that again. But they were dirt cheap... and there was a reason they were... they sucked!
Yeah I got a premium colt 7.62 soviet upper in a trade. The guy had never fired it until that day. Shot some Russian corrosive ammo through it. All I needed to do was just dip it in water and the corrosive acidic salts would wash off... of course I let the chamber and barrel rust.
Oh well it's a shooter now. I'm gotta keep it! And scored in getting it for a reasonable price. Which the c marked bolt is worth that honestly... And I got the entire thing!
I need to get into reloading when I get my land and tiny home solved!
Nice! That Russian ammo really sucks. The price was right which is always important, weapons are getting more expensive every day!
I've never done reloading but it can save a lot of money I've heard. The only bad thing is you have to buy the basic equipment.

Ah man, these are so cool. I wish I had known about them sooner. I have only been to the Hard Rock a couple of times. One of them was after we went to the Hofbrau house for lunch and then the other time was because we were there for a bachelor party and we got a cabana at the club rehab place. It was pretty crazy!
I only went once but I never stayed there. It was a cool place. The Silver Strikers from Hard Rock were the best with the gold plated silver! Vegas is always a lot of fun, especially for bachelor parties!
That's a cool piece of history! I'm also curious how much gold is electroplated on there. Normally they specify. Very interesting.

Currently, I'm dealing with another delivery drama of SEUR. Unbelievable, since we moved here, nothing but issues with every package from them. I can't avoid them as they use SEUR for delivery quite often. Stressing me out if we now lost the package. Checked on Trustpilot, almost 1300 reviews and 95% gives 1 star. Common practice thieves there.
Hopefully, I can figure it out again and avoid them in the future.

Slowly but surely I am! Hopefully the inflammations stays down for awhile this time.
I know right? I never knew because in our old place there were a few rotten companies but SEUR wasn't one of them. It's shit because most things are just cheaper online and often only online available even.
The company who sent it said it's still in transit, but I'm not so sure if they have updated info. I have the feeling I will have to complain again tomorrow lol.
For now, putting together a bed, which also turns out to be shit as can be but the matrasses arrive today so little choice but to deal with it and ask for partial refund later.

Oh man, if I were to sum up the incompetence we bumped on the past month, it would not even be funny. Thankfully, my handyman will be able to make it at least so that we can sleep on it. The smell that comes from those matrasses, oof. Today it's not too warm here, but I have to open the windows completely and a blower to the window so the chemical smell leaves (hopefully somewhere today, haha).
I did sleep much better though. I also changed the room in terms of where the bed is and can now slowly start to plan what I want to do to decorate and add some cabinet or drawer.
Money went poof though so I guess it may take a few months. Bedding was surely the most important as well as getting a gas heater which also means closing several contracts for gas bottles (read: deposit twice as high as cost of a bottle).
Anyway, wouldn't want to go back for the world, just drove by the old home and I saw the staircase next to our old window was filled with cans of soda and garbage again. Glad I was not sleeping there :)

That's too bad the matrasses smelled bad! Hopefully airing them out will help today even if it's been a little cold out there.
After the month you've had it's amazing any money is left! The nice thing is that you're finally settling in and you have a great view. Hopefully the heater won't be too expensive, but you have to have heat in the middle of winter!
Still feeling pretty good, but a little tender at the area that was inflamed. At least the swelling is finally going away. So hopefully I'll be back to Superman status soon!

They smelled all day but I read that you have to remove the sheet if you really start using them right away, so I did that first thing in the morning, and opened the windows + put a fan to blow the smell towards the window (lol). It kept smelling all day but much less than yesterday. Will repeat it tomorrow. Thankfully, at least they are good matrasses and a HUGE upgrade!
Honestly, I'm currently borrowing from our savings vault where I monthly put the tax contribution we pay every quarter. I always put the full amount there, but know that we never have to pay the full amount as there are deductions. So a little room is left, and this way I can use December and January's income to fill it back up.
I refuse to postpone buying the things that really make our life better this time, last time we had no choice because we moved here with only 2 full boxes of items as well as our suitcases, the rest was left behind. We were lucky back then to rent with pans, kitchen stuff and blankets etc. But it also meant we needed all the bedding now, lol.
The heater is one of these things that I refuse to wait with as last year I noticed they doubled in price once it was December/January. Not going to wait for that :) The heater is here already, just need to get a contract with two more gas bottles in the next weeks to make sure we never run out of gas.
I'm so happy for you that you feel better! If it was so inflamed, I bet it will stay tender for a while (or even longer) because I remember my HUGE inflammations from mosquito bites and all these spots remain harder skin. As long as it's healing, I would not be bothered too much. Superman status, oh man, I can't even imagine feeling 100% great again, lol. Can you? :)
Today we removed the old matrasses down to storage as well as the frame of the big bed. All boxes are cleared (yay, this means space for the washing machine is made) and our new scratching post for the kittens arrived. I will take pictures in good light tomorrow but I'm SOOO happy, this was a great deal.
How was your day? I never really asked but do you still work or not? Not being curious but interested :)
Time to finish my draft and land on the sofa to watch some shows..

The only Hard Rock cafe I have ever been to was in Cancun Mexico. I have no stories because I was really drunk and do not remember much other than the cab driver tried to charge me double for the ride back to my hotel.
That means you must have had a really good time!
There is a huge Hard Rock complex close to where I live, I should stop in sometime and see if they have any silver tokens like this. Check out the video of the guitar hotel and some of what it has, this place is really cool.

The casino is there it just doesn't show on the video. The place is huge and has all kind of stuff to offer in addition to the casino.

No that's just a commemorative chip with a stated gaming value, but the silver is the true value. The tokens tend to be expensive on the collector's market!
