Hello ladies, I am back here with another piece of writing for this week's Ladies of Hive contest. As usual, we were given two topics, and I would choose only one topic to write about. Here is my selected topic.

Music has a special ability to touch our souls and awaken emotions. For many people, including myself, it is more than simply a form of entertainment; it is a way of life. I'll go into detail about my personal experience as a dedicated musician, exploring the deep impact music has had on me.

I've had a deep love of music since I was a child. The melodies, rhythms, and lyrics spoke with me in ways that words alone could not. For me, music's ability to stir emotions and create a one-of-a-kind atmosphere captivates me, leading me along the path of becoming a stage singer.

I must say that music runs in the family. My real father was a musician himself, and he used to work at our local radio station (RTM). At the same time, he also played in a band (keyboardist and bassist) and performed in a few clubs and pubs around Malaysia.

I knew that he sang too. But I wasn't raised by him. I got to know him and his career when I first met him during my college year. I was 17 at that time. That's the first time we actually met. I was raised and have lived with my late stepfather since I was one year old.

I didn't say that this was my dream. I never plan on becoming a singer. It just happens naturally. I didn't do this for fame or popularity, but I have a strong desire to share my passion for music with others. I love to perform in front of a crowd. The process of improving my vocal abilities, experiencing other genres, and interacting with other musicians has been amazing.

From my point of view, music has given me countless benefits that go beyond the stage. It has been a source of comfort and healing during difficult times. I remember performing outside of my district and getting a call from my mother that my daughter was sick. It's hard to control our emotions while we're onstage, but I need to be professional so I don't display my worries.

The moment we stopped performing, I cried so hard that I wished I could fly back to my hometown and be with my daughter. Music is good for self-expression, allowing me to express my feelings and stories in ways that words alone cannot. Music has the ability to take me to other worlds, boost my spirits, and motivate my personal growth.

Singing is more than just hitting the perfect notes or displaying technical skills. It is all about sending emotions, connecting with the audience, and creating something that everyone enjoys. Singing allows me to share my deepest thoughts and feelings with others while transcending language barriers.

It's an important way of expressing myself that gives me a lot of joy and satisfaction. Sometimes, when I am angry, singing helps me release my tension. I don't have to scream; I just choose a high-note song that lets me scream out loud.

Regardless of any challenges and difficulties that life may throw at me, my love of music stays strong. During COVID 19, that's the lowest point in my life where all of us musicians and singers were jobless due to the pandemic.

It is a lifelong commitment to which I am deeply committed. Music has become a part of my identity, and I can't picture myself without it. It has taught me about everything. It can make me sad, and it can also make me happy. But for me, "music is life."

There is no stopping you from listening to music. Even as I'm writing this blog, I'm listening to a song. If I'm about to go to sleep, I need music too. When I'm doing some cleaning, I need music too. If I walk in the park in the afternoon, I need music. I wonder what life would be like without music.
