Time to close my entries for this cycle of the festival with a treat. I've been wondering what would it be like to play something by a musician that I know in person. Well, this cover answers that exact question. A while ago, I learned this piece. It is a composition by my teacher. It has been called "El Bochinche", but we were talking about it and decided we wanted to called it something different.

I might have had some card into the business. I told him there's a part of the song that sounds a lot like a "Diamante" which is a fixed pattern from one of the variants of Joropo in the country. Thus, the piece was dubbed La Diamantina.

It is a Joropo following the 3/4 time measure. It has a lot of jumps and plays withe descending chords in a tonal way. It is really cool. And it was a bit hard to learn because of the syncopation in some phrases.

What can I say about what it feels like to know a piece by a composer and also know the composer? Well, it feels like you have all the answers. So, whenever I want to ask something about this, I have just the right person to ask. Also, there are no videos of this being played. As far as I know, the piece is only available in records.

So, this is a one of a kind time where I'm doing not only the first video recording of the piece for Soloist Venezuelan Cuatro, but it is also the premiere of the piece in this digital spaces.
