Hope you watch that one, if not let me know!`

My first vinyl post here

Actually wanted to post often but had not time due to certain circumstances in life -but now a small contribution to this awesome community by @panwinyl - hope that post is fine and following the community rules.

The Hive Vinyl Freaks Decalogue

Posts must be about vinyl — stories, finds, or obsessions — vinyl comes first, always.
This is not a group about music in general, but about music on vinyl.
You can post about the records you dream of owning — and tell us why.
Every post must include a photo of a vinyl, a collector with vinyl, or shelves full of vinyl.
Posts should celebrate the wider vinyl culture, from crate-digging to pressing plant visits.
Photos from events are welcome, as long as vinyl makes an appearance in the frame.
Be kind — no insults, no drama. We’re here for grooves, not grudges.
No one is “better” because they own more or pricier records — snobbery stays outside.
Posts about audio gear are welcome, but only if it’s for playing vinyl records.
Remember: we’re here to share the love for the world’s most beautiful music format — the vinyl record.

My vinyl history

First of all: I am old! But my first music I bought was not vinyl - it was a music cassette (Super Trouper by Abba, 1980!). Reason I had a cassette player and my dad did not want me to use the traditional "Plattenspieler" for vinyl in our cellar.

However - after buying nearly every Foreigner production on Cassette I did a job during school to earn money and after several months I bought myself a HiFi rack including all, hence I could now not only listen in shops to vinyl but buy vinyl and bought all I could financially afford by Foreiger also as vinyl (later did the same with CD etc....).

My milestone of a vinyl was a red one by Yazoo

This vinyl I wanted to buy as I loved the 45incher by Yazoo (Vince Clark / Alison Moyet) from 1982. This music style (in line with Kraftwerk sounds) also brought me to my love for Techno later.

I bought the vinyl - came home and wanted to play it. Open the frame i was stunned to see - this vinyl is not the usual black one, but a red vinyl - damn was excited - still probably my most interesting vinyl investment.

Here the music from te original :-)

Since then bought a lot vinyl

In my cellar I have a decent compilation of vinyl mainly from Rock though. When I started my Techno DJ career (amatrur though - only played small local clubs) I added more (buying and renting) of vinyl to DJ with.

Was a great time and only the feeling to touch these vinyl pieces makes me happy. That was all way before CD was invented, there was no internat, no smartphone, 3 TV programm and not blockchain.

What was your vinyl record? @steevc @slobberchops @andyjaypowell @edje @ravenmus1c ?

I remember Yazoo well. We saw Alison Moyet live a few years ago and she did some of the old hits.

That single could be worth a bit. I have seen in some places they were sold without the converter to use a standard deck so you have that big hole. I was more of an albums guy. I could do a post some time as I have some fairly recent vinyl as well as the old stuff.

Rock on!

Don't say he's old; he had the privilege of listening to music on various media. Cassettes and vinyl marked a generation. So many memories and stories, as you share here.

Who didn't have Foreigner's "I Want to Know What Love Is" always ready to play at garage parties?

With Yazoo we danced, with Foreigner we made love 🫢

Thanks

@uwelang welcome to our Vinyl Freaks community :D Your post is completely in line with our decalouge! Post more content like this! It's great that vintage music still has its place in the WEB3 world!

I recently wrote about the German program Ronny's Pop Show. I'm curious if you remember that chimpanzee show and if you happen to have any compilations from that series in your collection: https://peakd.com/hive-110757/@panwinyl/chimpanzee-ronny-pop-culture-icon-32-monster-hits-2lp-vinyl-1988

Of course I remember Ronny and its show - also Formel Eins was a great show in the 1980ies. However I bought no compilations.

Your vinyl story is great. Especially with the example of red Yazoo vinyl, you were able to show how a record is not just music but also becomes a part of memories and feelings.
