It's for a while i read and listen to the awesomeness of #threetunetuesday . Though this grinchy dude here hasn't taken the time to participate in it, yet. Not until today...

My first Three Tune Tuesday...

Thanks to my love you can now read and listen to my very first post in #TTT. Why? How? She invited me to a surprise evening the other day and guess what... we went to a concert. A concert that became one of the best i ever been to and made me want to write about...

You may agree to the fact that there are some of these bands/musicians, we mostly 'know' from the blaring radios or the recordings we are listening to, but the moment you heard them live you instantly know that you actually had no idea. And IMHO that counts for this man in many ways..!

The Master of BluFunk - Keziah Jones

He describes his musical style as "Blufunk", which is a fusion between raw blues elements and hard, edgy funk rhythms. Also his Nigerian roots in Yoruba music and soul music can be considered a major influence on his sound.

He is known for his distinctive style of guitar playing, including his percussive right-hand technique which is similar to a bass guitarist's slapping technique.

Today i can say, that if ever you think you 'know' his music just from listening on radios and CD's - you actually don't, if you haven't been to a live show -

btw, his 'BluFunk'... IS a fact.

It was a WOW from start to end... and you'll be blown away by the groove and the energy of that ensemble who's touring around Europe.

Then it's also about the way he conducts his band through the pieces you thought you know. He finds a way to make them sound like you simply hear them for the first time... again! Just by directing his band with little signs and gestures.

Now i chose three live videos to try and get you at least a tiny idea of the groove he's radiating. Still it doesn't give credit to what's actually going on on stage, while you're staying just in middle of the sound wall, making your earlobes flutter.

Live in Paris

There are not much live videos out there from Keziah and his Band, not to mention good quality. So, here's a last years concert, that gives you a small idea of what i've experienced. The concert the other day was just with drums, bass, keyboards and his guitar. Enjoy...

BluFunk Is A Fact

1994 there was a Live Concert on television that made me aware of his music. It impressed me the way that right the next day i went to my music dealer, to get me that kick for me and my disco nights...

But i heard him say, hein, who's that man, never heard of him, let me check my sources first. I was: Whaaaat? Gimme this ASAP.

This second tune is actually out of that one concert i was just mentioning...

The Bootleg Version of an Act of Love

The third tune is from the same year he became known over here in Europe. I actually tried to get tickets to that concert, though it was sold out in a second...

From the first time i heard this BluFunk i knew/felt that he isn't just good but awesome, the live version of BluFunk is a Fact showed me that already 31 years ago. Then i feel that his "grooviness" (for a missing better word) is somehow comparable to a good bottle of wine... it gets better over the years.

About Three Tune Tuesday

...by @ablaze

For those unfamiliar with TTT or Three Tune Tuesday... the jist is as follows:

Every Tuesday @ablaze is going to share 3 songs which he likes to listen to and he invites us for our feedback in the comments. Better still, why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention him in the post and he'll come and find the post and upvote it. If you could also use the #threetunetuesday tag that would be great, as that is what he uses when sifting through all the entries every Wednesday. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. You'll also be in with a chance of winning the prize.

So, please go over there to follow and support this awesome-sauce...

Tipping is a way to show that you appreciate the work ! Thank you !

The “true” way of a community is to support each other, since it doesn't make sense to wait for the mercy of a millionaire to send us $$$ - we support each other with the best we can.
It works even after a contribution has gone through the seven days of voting, and thus the opportunity for gracious "giving" is over. Another plus - that way no one can ‘steal’ your given support, not even the often ego-selfish pointless Down-Voters. I thank you for all the support you give, anywhere !

@mondoshawan...

To me...live music is similar to reading the book, BEFORE, you see the movie. Guess that's not the best analogy. But... IKYKWIM. I'm sure that @ablaze loves the notion that you decide to post your awesome journey via the #ttt... Thank you for sharing, Soul Brother...

Thanks a lot dear Brother... and your analogy is quite right, it's like watching a movie and then you read the book and say to yourself... wow, that was better then the movie.

Your tip is much appreciated ! Light & Healthiness Brother !

What a way to start your first Three Tune Tuesday post! I learnt a new artist today... however ...

Early Career: Keziah Jones spent time busking in the underground stations and streets of London and Paris in the late 1980s, where he was eventually discovered.

As I worked in London and got the tube/underground I might have heard (Olufemi Sanyaolu as he was born), play.

This is so cool and I wonder how many of Nigerian youngsters know him!

BluFunk I like it mad bro!

Yeah you never know. There were a hell of a lot of good buskers who played the underground stations.
