Spinning out of Control
Office chairs are great for spinning round and round and gliding along to reach stuff all around without getting up, right?
But, that rotating can become perilous when you find yourself falling.
What happened is that the back support cushion fell over onto the seat, effectively making the seat way too high to sit down - I did not have my glasses on, so I saw it too late, tried to grab the armrest. Add to that a super-smooth laminate floor, and I'd stupidly removed the office chair mat because it hinders me from easily gliding on the floor! Big mistake!
The chair glided away from me, so I went spinning out of control along with the chair, had nothing else to grab on to, and landed flat on my bottom. Don't ask me how it was a soft landing, think I had a guardian angel who broke my fall. Just have a slightly stiff left hand from trying to stop the fall when the ground came closer. Not happy, though, that I jerked my neck and may have undone all the neck physio, but I'll take it as it comes. ;)
I'm so glad no one was around, so my dignity stayed intact! My employee heard the commotion and came rushing in, expecting me to be knocked out.
I was all shaken up, literally and figuratively.
Starting to feel like a drama queen; funny, but not funny!
I blame the fall on a guest who annoyed me. He wanted a quote to book 2 nights as he wanted use of the pool all day for none other than a baptism. I have no issue with that, but then he started asking if he could book the cottage and pool just for the day! From 10 am to 2 pm!
REALLY! If I have other guests, they check out at 10 am; the cottage has to be cleaned. If new guests book for that evening, they can check in at 2 pm. Near impossible to have a full day unless you book 2 nights, which is our minimum stay in any case, as I explained to him.
I mean, look at the timeline!
He still requested a quote for 2 nights despite trying to save pennies by booking a day visit! I knew it would be a waste of time, but I obliged!
Poe was so startled after my fall from grace that he ran away and hid in his latest favourite box!
Oh, for those who don't know, it was Hive Power Up Day. I did a very small power-up as a token as I believe in the thinking behind this, I only powered up 20HP though! I am trying to build a little kitty of HBD in my Hive wallet Savings. The sale of the house is crawling at a snail's pace with not many buyers since our president signed what basically is a land grab act! So, I could still need every little penny if unexpected estate costs pop up before the sale takes place!
The awesomesauce @hivebuzz tells us why we should power up:
The first reason is to have fun and get a badge!
Here are some other great reasons to power-up your HIVE:
Strengthen your influence on the blockchain with stronger votes on content, proposals and witnesses.
Earn more curation rewards. The more Hive Power you have, the more you can potentially earn back
Earn "interest" by holding Hive Power. You will also earn HIVE passively at about 3% per year of what you currently have powered up so the more HIVE you have, the more you can earn from just holding!
Finally, several amazing members are offering prizes that include delegations, Hive giveaways, and other cool stuff to the Hive PUD participants.
After a day like today, I needed some 70s music therapy, sure to get my mind off all the happenings of the day.
As we know by now, Tuesday is Three Tunes Tuesday Week 201, run by Dad. Husband. Sport. Music. Technology. Astronomy. Art. Reading. Surfing. none other than @ablaze.
I'm not going into detail about the artists nor the songs, simply sit back and enjoy!
As always, a bonus track.
I hope you're also helping strengthen the blockchain by powering up, being careful of those office chairs, and enjoying the music shared by other Hivers!

Ouch! I could feel the pain from your fall and when you did your TTT one song immediately came to mind for you. Hope you're ok
That was a fun and very apt song! I was very lucky with that fall, was an awful feeling though when that chair started spinning and gliding away from me!
Just my hand is a bit sore🫣
Mary Poppins flying and soft landing style, or course!
Just a joke, I hope you are fine and your neck will not feel any consequences! Take care @lizelle and enjoy the music therapy! I like a lot Riders on the Storm 😇🎶
Perhaps that parasol helped keep me afloat☂️ It was a horrible feeling having nothing sturdy to hold onto, happened so fast. Truly hoping the neck behaves, I need to do my exercises!
Fingers crossed it behaves 😇
oh no! Falling as an adult is so traumatic.
I had to grin a little though when you said at least your dignity was still intact!
I have fallen a time or two in the last few years, not by a swiveling chair, but over things just as innocent. I couldn't believe it and it happened so fast!
I hope all your parts turn out ok and your neck doesn't get set back.
Yep, the longer we're around, a fall no longer is a case of just getting up, dusting yourself off and back to play! Unfortunately the perils of aging
Oh, dear, Lizelle! Reminds me of a fall I had outside AgriMark in Robertson: mercifully between 2 huge bakkies and also with nobody around. It was a helluva crash, though, with banged, slightly bloodied knee and jarred wrist and shoulder.
My office looks like a tip with everything that is out and being sorted and thrown out. Trips to the dump on my agenda in the next day or so.... Happily I have a friend who has offered to take on selling things that can be. As you say, every little helps.
Fingers crossed for offers on your house....
Thank you Fiona!
I think you told us about that fall at the time?
Arthur's garage also took 2 trips to the dump on a large bakkie, plus my older brother took a bakkie load of stuff home for his garage. The final garage sorting will be done just before I move. I will start selling furniture that I definitely won't use, leaving the cottage for now.
I was so lucky with that fall, had moved a heavy chest of drawers up to the garage, I would have crashed into that and for sure hurt myself!
We're both literally 'sifting' through the sands of time, thinking of you as well❤️
OOPS!!!
your customer service sounds wonderful, as is your choice of 4 classic tracks from my youth, great choices !!
Oopsie daisy it was for sure🥴
I still blame that guest for my fall, I was so annoyed that I marched to my desk to send his quote.
I still think the 70s was the era of the best music, glad you enjoyed those @grindle!
Without a doubt the 70's were the best. You must have the patience of Job, with visitors like that.
Here we often say that children are made of rubber, they take terrible falls and nothing happens to them, and I think it's the same for us, although I don't mean to take it seriously.
We have to take care of ourselves, my friend. I recently fell down a flight of stairs and only had a bruise on my knee, which healed with three days of ice. My son jokingly tells me, "You've learned from falling so much."
Your cat behaved soberly and calmly.
May everything continue to improve and you achieve what you set out to do.
Best regards.
Thank you dear @charjaim! I like that, wish we were made of rubber as we get older😉 Gosh, you could have hurt yourself badly, you must have fallen just right! Your son is onto something there, you must have had a lot of practice😅
Thank you for the good wishes!
Take care of yourself and watch those steps!
Ouch! I'm sorry to hear about your fall. Please take care of yourself. I hope your left-hand is okay now.
Thank you @gretelarmfeg, my hand was surprisingly not sore today! I was so relieved as I had to drive quite a distance today!
Enjoy the rest of your day/evening 🤗
I'm glad that your hand is feeling better. Stay safe always @lizelle 🥰
I hope the fall doesn't cause you any problems. Sometimes we think accidents can be avoided, but the reality is they happen regardless of what we do. I hope you're well received dear, @lizelle A big hug from Maracay.
