Hive Open Mic Week #190 - How Great Thou Art (Cover) by @yisusth [ENG/SPA]

A cordial greeting to all. I am happy to share in the Hive Open Mic Week #190, where we explore the theme "Grace" proposed by the recent featured artist of our community: @stefanovah. Today I share with you my trumpet interpretation of “How Great Thou Art,” a hymn composed by Carl Boberg in 1885. Stuart K. Hine's version is the best known to this day, and it is the one we sing in our congregation today. Boberg was impressed by the greatness of God's creation during a storm off the coast of Sweden. The contrast between the storm and the calm that followed led him to fall to his knees in worship. This song is a strophic hymn, meaning that each verse follows the same melodic and harmonic structure. The hymn is written in simple 4/4 time and uses a diatonic chord progression. This one is beautifully crafted and moving both musically and spiritually. The simplicity of the melody and harmony makes it easy to sing and remember, while the richness of the music and the power of the lyrics make it a truly inspiring anthem.

Me siento feliz de compartir en el Hive Open Mic Semana #190, donde exploramos la tematica "Gracia" propuesta por el artista destacado reciente de nuestra comunidad: @stefanovah. Hoy les comparto mi interpretación con la trompeta «How Great Thou Art» un himno compuesto por Carl Boberg en 1885. La versión de Stuart K. Hine es la más conocida hasta hoy, y es la que cantamos en nuestra congregación actualmente. Boberg quedó impresionado por la grandeza de la creación de Dios durante una tormenta en la costa de Suecia. El contraste entre la tormenta y la calma que siguió lo llevó a caer de rodillas en adoración. Esta canción es un himno estrófico, lo que significa que cada verso sigue la misma estructura melódica y armónica. El himno está escrito en un compás simple de 4/4 y utiliza una progresión de acordes diatónicos. Este está hermosamente elaborado y es conmovedor tanto musical como espiritualmente. La simplicidad de la melodía y la armonía hace que sea fácil de cantar y recordar, mientras que la riqueza de la música y el poder de la letra lo convierten en un himno verdaderamente inspirador.

The third verse of this hymn talks about the Grace of God. This verse describes the author's experience of feeling desperate and hopeless, and how he cried out to God for help. God answered his prayer and lifted him out of the mud, giving him a new beginning. Grace is the power of God that allows us to access the blessings of this life, and those of eternal life. This is the divine help and strength that comes from the love of God and his infinite mercy. It is difficult to achieve perfection in this life, but thanks to Grace and mercy we can achieve it. I have had the opportunity to climb big mountains, and reach places that are difficult to access. Where does that strength come from to reach the goal? Even when you already feel like your legs can't take it anymore. So, you get up, walk and reach your destination. That strength comes not only from our own will, but also from the Grace of God.

La tercera estrofa de este himno habla sobre la Gracia de Dios. En este verso se describe la experiencia del autor al sentirse desesperado y sin esperanza, y cómo clamó a Dios por ayuda. Dios respondió a su oración y lo levantó del lodo, dándole un nuevo comienzo. La gracia es el poder de Dios que nos permite acceder a las bendiciones de esta vida, y las de la vida eterna. Esta es la ayuda y fortaleza divina que proviene del amor de Dios y de su misericordia infinita. Es difícil alcanzar la perfección en esta vida, pero gracias a la Gracia y misericordia podemos alcanzarla. He tenido la oportunidad de subir grandes montañas, y de llegar a lugares que son de difícil acceso. ¿De dónde sale esa fuerza para llegar a la meta?, incluso cuando ya sientes que tus piernas no dan más. Entonces, te levantas, caminas y llegas a tu destino. Esa fortaleza no viene solo de nuestra propia voluntad, sino también de la Gracia de Dios.
