Generally when we hear the word "rumor" we tend to give it a negative connotation, and it can be considered as such, especially when it comes to unsubstantiated hearsay that can affect a person's reputation. However, I believe that a rumor in general may not necessarily have a negative meaning, but simply be about whispers and assumptions about any kind of situation whether it is good or not so good.
