HIVE OPEN MIC WEEK 293: THEME: OPENING SEAS: COVER OF ALEGRIA BY MANU

Hello Hive Open Mic family! It’s always a joy to be back for another week of music. This week’s theme — Opening Seas — made me reflect on those moments when life places something huge and uncertain in front of us, and somehow a small spark of courage opens a path where there seemed to be none.

¡Hola familia del Hive Open Mic! Siempre es una alegría volver para otra semana de música. El tema de esta semana — Apertura de los Mares — me hizo reflexionar sobre esos momentos en los que la vida pone algo enorme e incierto frente a nosotros, y de alguna manera una pequeña chispa de valentía abre un camino donde parecía no haber ninguno.

Sometimes life feels like standing before a closed ocean — too deep, too wide, too overwhelming. But every now and then, a moment of clarity or joy breaks through, just like the sea parting, giving us enough space to keep moving forward.

A veces la vida se siente como estar frente a un mar cerrado — demasiado profundo, demasiado ancho, demasiado abrumador. Pero de vez en cuando, un momento de claridad o de alegría irrumpe, como si el mar se abriera, dándonos el espacio suficiente para seguir adelante

This idea of finding a path through the impossible inspired my choice for this week: “Alegría” by Manu. It’s a song that carries a simple but powerful message — that deep joy that doesn’t depend on circumstances, that remains even when the waves are high.

Esta idea de encontrar un camino en lo imposible inspiró mi elección para esta semana: “Alegría” de Manu. Es una canción que transmite un mensaje simple pero poderoso — esa alegría profunda que no depende de las circunstancias y que permanece incluso cuando las olas están altas.

For this presentation, I went with an acoustic approach, letting the guitar breathe and carry the emotion. There’s a calm energy in the song that matches perfectly with the theme, like a gentle sea finally opening after a storm.

Para esta presentación, opté por una versión acústica, dejando que la guitarra respire y lleve la emoción. Hay una energía tranquila en la canción que encaja perfectamente con el tema, como un mar suave que finalmente se abre después de la tormenta.

The theme Opening Seas also reminded me that sometimes the sea we need to cross isn’t out there — it’s inside us. Joy, in moments like that, becomes a way of opening space in the heart.

El tema Apertura de los Mares también me recordó que a veces el mar que debemos cruzar no está afuera — está dentro de nosotros. La alegría, en esos momentos, se convierte en una forma de abrir espacio en el corazón.
