Hive Open Mic Week 262 || A Cover of "Said Judas to Mary" [Eng/Esp]

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

Hello friend of the hive open mic Week 262, my name is @jesus-son and I bring you my interpretation for this week with the theme of "Holy week". It is a week of great piety and expiation. That week in which we contemplate of the passion of our Lord for us.

I present you today a song that is very apt for this week. It is titled "Said Judas to Mary". This is a song written by the great song composer Sydney Carter and copyrighted in 1964.

This song is presented in a dramatic format, thus recounting a possible dialogue between Judas and Mary when Mary poured oil on the feet of the Lord and wiped them with her hair.

It presents Judas to be interested in what finality Mary had for the oil and then the suggestion that the oil could be sold and then the money given or used for the poor.

Mary on the other hand tells him that she would think of the poor tomorrow but for today, she will use it for the Lord because He is dearer than any poor.

This is a song with very deep meaning. Judas presents himself like an advocate for the poor but then in comparison with what Mary did with the oil which is pouring it on the feet of the Lord.

Looking at the gesture very critically, we have to understand the fact that giving to the poor is infact a matter of duty for any rich and as such very necessary but in the context of Mary and Judas, Mary chose the better part.

It shows how much she reverenced our Lord, thus, her respect and adoration for the Lord. This should be the attitude of any Christian. Having ultimate regard for the Lord.

But not to neglect the poor of course. Infact, this season is a season to remember the poor in a very special way. Because our Lord was made poor for our sake.

I was immensed in the spirit of this song while producing it and I hope that you too could immense yourself in it. Thanks for showing up.

Brother, how wonderful that you bring up this beautiful song from this episode in the New Testament. Jesus the Christ is worth everything, and Mary wanted to give her all. That was something of greater spiritual value. In Judas's case, his concern was material, his character selfish and greedy. Later, his betrayal. Without a doubt, Christ is the answer and deserves everything.

You are totally right
Greed is one vice that can destroy a person's life and that was evident in Judas' case
Thanks so much brother for coming around

As I read your writing and you sang, the movie I saw about Mary crossed my mind, and I remembered that image where she cleaned his feet with her hair, anointing him with oil.
