Good day dear Hive friends, first of all I would like to wish you a pleasant day and hope you made one or the other positive experience and you are doing well! In this post, I would like to discuss the history of an instrument that everyone should know and hope you can expand your knowledge a little.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart or Ludwig Van Beethoven have one thing in common, both of them mastered the instrument which I would like to bring a little more close in this article, the piano. The first stringed instruments were already created in the 14th century but it should still take a few centuries until the piano as it is known today was invented and as a forerunner was the so-called harpsichord which was invented in the Baroque period and in 1709 the Italian Bartolomeo Cristofori (1655 - 1731) invented the piano which worked with the help of a hammer technique. Depending on how hard you pressed the keys, you could produce louder or quieter sounds and through the different strings it was possible to play several tones at the same time by pressing the black and white keys. The invention enabled a dynamic and diverse functioning and he often associated his instrument with the words piano or forte, which means quiet and loud and some were so convinced of the invention and decided to develop it further in other countries while others were rather negative about the whole and the well-known artist Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 - 1760) preferred to continue using the harpsichord. An important further development happened in Germany when the German creator of instruments Johann Gottfried Silbermann (1683 - 1753) improved the piano which quickly enjoyed great popularity and gained more and more popularity and until the end of the 18th century, it has displaced almost all other predecessors and the sounds were considered softer and quieter. Over time, the design was also changed and mainly the two construction methods of grand piano and upright piano are known and a large market was created around this instrument and with the technological innovations the piano was also changed more and more and electronic keyboard instruments were developed and to this day it is one of the most formative instruments in history which still enjoys great popularity today and this instrument is also constantly being developed.

That’s true and it always gives a certain touch of nostalgia! Opinions can always differ and often the older things are even the better ones, but you are also right and there is a lot associated with the own attitude as with Johann Sebastian Bach.

Growing up, I always find it difficult to differentiate between piano and keyboard
