Some people write down their dreams in a book, I write mine down into music :) 🎵🎶

So there I was, in the dream, sitting on a bench and reading a book; the park filled with so much life and beauty: swans dancing by the lake, birds chirping and singing sweet melodious songs in the sky, and rabbits chasing butterflies on the grass. And even the squirrels and chipmunks, whom had all been busy twittering up in the trees this whole time, sang too a great many deal of tunes!

Ah, and as the sun set upon a breath taking landscape, the girl finally spoke to me: "It's time to go Daddy!" she said.

(From a Special Dream of his)

So let's talk dreams...

Don't you find em interesting? I mean, just think about it for a sec... we go to sleep and then all of a sudden, by some unexplained phenomena, we suddenly find ourselves in another world!

Fun fact: There is really no logical explanation for why we, as humans, dream! It's just something that happens! Just one of those many unexplainable mysteries of life (like why some people put pineapple on pizzas) that even science can't explain!

Anyway, I personally, have always found dreams to be quite intriguing. Call me superstitious, delusional, or even downright mental but, I do believe that dreams could actually be gateways to other planes(worlds) and realities - one far beyond the human scope. And sometimes, we find that these dreams, can often give us knowledge/intuitions into our current, past, and future lives — just as it did with this particular dream of mine.

The Dream

This happened about a month ago: So there I was, in the dream, sitting on a bench and reading a book; the park filled with so much life and beauty: swans dancing by the lake, birds chirping and singing sweet melodious songs in the sky, and rabbits chasing butterflies on the grass. And even the squirrels and chipmunks, whom had all been busy twittering up in the trees this whole time, sang too a great many deal of tunes!"

There also with me, was a little girl playing around with the animals. I suspected she must've been around the age of 3. She had very nice silky blonde hair with a pretty blue bow attached to it; pale white skin, and eyes, a staggering color of hazel. She wore a pretty peach dress and had a very warm smile on her face. And though, she did not speak a word to me, I found myself taking a much liking to the girl and fancied her presence a lot.

Hmm mmm... as it often is with dreams, I could've sworn I spent an eternity in that park but, I much suspect it would've been merely a couple hours of REM sleep.

Ah, and as the sun set upon a breath taking landscape, I watched as the girl suddenly walked up to me, and happily spoke: "It's time to go Daddy!"

IMG-20221104-WA0027.jpg

You know, I'm not gonna lie, I was a little bit startled by that sudden remark of hers. I mean for one thing, it was clear by the apparent difference in our appearance, that we could scarcely be related! But then like an arrow swinging to a bull's eye, it hit me — I WAS DREAMING!

You know that sudden nervousness, fear, and excitement you feel when your normal dream turns into a lucid one?? Yeah... that's exactly how I felt then!

Oh, so this is a dream!

I thought, my countenance changing in accordance to the sudden realization. But the girl, suddenly picking my uneasy demeanor, quietly muttered:

What's wrong Daddy?

Still unease but desperately trying not to startle the girl, I replied:

No darling, it's nothing...

Then tried my best to reassure her that everything was ok, despite the fact that somewhere at the back of my mind, I just couldn't stop thinking how the girl was just a dream character and not really an actual person!

It didn't take long but soon, that sudden dream awakening realization passed and, at length, it became a normal dream once again!

Later, I and the girl sat on the bench together holding hands as she pointed to the sunset and said to me one last time:

This has been beautiful daddy... I love you!

And once the sun had set completely, I awoke back in my room, eyes filled with tears of happiness. Grabbing my journal, I quickly wrote down everything single detail I could remember from the dream - from the pattern of the autumn leaves, to that sweet angelic voice of the girl.

IMG-20221104-WA0028.jpg

Hmm... You know even till this very day, I still think fondly of that dream; so fondly, infact, that simply writing the dream down on paper wasn't merely enough for me! And so, after a short composing process, I decided to write a short but beautiful waltz, completely inspired by the dream!

The waltz in all it's entirety, holds a very special place in my heart. It has been written in the key of B Flat Major and has the light hearted characteristics that I find, resemble that of the little girl's demeanor in some way.

I call it Lily's waltz because as she kept playing around in that park, there was this one flower she was very obsessive over - a lily!

Although, I am unsure of the true meaning behind the dream: perhaps it was a premonition I was going to adopt a kid later in the future, perhaps it was a final closure to a past life encounter; or perhaps it was even random at best! Regardless, if there's one thing I've learnt from this experience, it's that: dreams — at the very end — are simply just realities that exists beyond our imagination.

If that makes sense lol👀...

Oh and also, you can make a pretty catchy tune out of them!

That's so very true.
Ignoring a dream is equivalent to ignoring a handwritten letter to you.

Interesting post and I am not superstitious or anything, but I think dreams do have much meaning in one way or another:)

This is really cool, @zeraton. Thank you for sharing your dream, your thoughts about what it means and what the cause of dreams may be, and your lovely waltz! Perhaps dreams are a doorway to an unknown realm that is beyond our imaginations.

What a vivid dream! Dreams fascinate me, and I really wish I had more memorable and vivid dreams. My dreams always seem bizarre and disconnected from both the real world and any sort of interesting other world, like yours. My only memorable recent dream involved meeting the famous actor, Wallace Shawn, in the hospital. We both were visiting the same podiatrist for foot surgery. I kept calling him Wallace Shawn and he kept telling me everyone calls him Wally. (Eye roll!) So... as you can see I'm quite envious of people who have dreams that could come from another dimension. That would be so much more intersting!

Wallace Shawn??? You lucky dog! I would kill to meet the voice of rex!

Interesting dream though... Maybe the true object wasn't necessarily you meeting Wallace but perhaps... A premonition to the future, were you stub your toe so hard you need foot surgery! 🤣

Kidding but uh... Yeah! I do tend to have a lot of otherworldly dreams - more so than I'd like to sometimes tbh. However, I usually don't complain, they're a good source of inspiration for my music!

I'm quite envious of people who have dreams

Oh yeah?😌...

Aww ....thanks! You always know just the right words to say🌝

Perhaps we dream our ultimate personality

This is a good conjecture though... I never thought about it that way. Who knows, maybe I'm just a big ol' 3 year old girl inside afterall XD.

Either way, Thank you!!!💛

A very interesting post and a wonderful waltz. When I let it go, I started dancing around the house to the beat. 🎵🙈

Dreams are interesting in themselves. 🤔 Scientists believe that everyone dreams, but people occasionally do not remember their dreams.
According to scientific research, a person remembers only 5% of what he dreams, and that dream is directly related to the subconscious.

I will also have to start writing down my dreams, especially the beautiful ones. The bad ones are better off being forgotten.. 😊

Oh really did you?😲 I love that!

Yup, I must agree with those facts. The subconscious plays a major part what we dream indeed. I believe the dream censor does the opposite.

I encourage you to do so - yes! Write even the bad ones too! You never know what hidden details you could find shrouding in a nightmare.

For example: My little brother, on time, kept having this consistent nightmare where that hand — you know from SpongeBob — would come out of nowhere and start tickling him uncontrollably. Then, after a short period of writing down the dreams and analyzing them, he realized he kept having the nightmare cause he was watching way too much SpongeBob!!

The dream made him figure this out the hard way😅

Oh, a dream about SpongeBob! Very interesting! This is what we SpongeBob fans dream about. 😄

When I was younger, I also had a dream that I often told my friends about. I dreamed of myself in a restaurant trying the famous Krabby Patty. Unfortunately, at the moment when I need to try it and SpongeBob serves it to me, the dream stops and I wake up.

It's strange that when the dreams are the most interesting, my alarm goes off. And yes, I should start writing them down, especially the unusually interesting ones. 😂

Hmm... Yeah, it would seem as so.

Aw, that sucks actually. I can't imagine having a dream teaser like that with a something as delectable as a Krabby Patty! Sounds like a nightmare to me honestly 😆

Hm... Maybe try setting your alarm to a much more convenient time? I get it tho... gotta get up early for work and such but still...

You had a wonderful dream and I'm amazed that you get to remember every single detail.
Most of the time my dreams are just a blur in my head. 😑
I don't know why.
And the waltz?
It's really beautiful.

The more vivid the dream, the more details you can absorb. Plus, I've practiced writing my dreams for years so... It gets a lot easier to remember details overtime.

Most of the time my dreams are just a blur in my head.

LoL, that's the dream censor doing it job I believe. And sometimes, its not necessarily a bad thing. In reality, they're some dreams that are just way too intense, that it's best we forget em!

And that you! I appreciate the compliment 😅
