"If it had not been for music I should have devoted myself entirely to the church and would have become a Franciscan.."

— Franz Liszt.

As a great admirer of the romantic era composer, Franz Liszt, I have always been left spellbound by the originality, beauty, passion, and sheer poeticness of his music. Indeed, he had written a great many deal of masterful works however, there is but one particular piece of his, that will undoubtedly and always remain closest to my heart. It's name — Bénédiction de Dieu dans la Solitude or God's Blessing in Solitude

Completed in the year 1835, it is the third piece in a very mature set of piano cycles titled: Harmonies poétiques et religieuses. In all, the piece is a meditation, an anecdote that entails the blessings of God in solitude, and is one of Liszt's later pieces.

I can assure you now, that there hasn't been at least one time I listened to this piece of music, without feeling this overwhelming sense of upliftment and healing. Ha! In fact, the music is so profound, that I suspect it must've been God himself who whispered the melodies directly into Liszt's ear!

Just take a listen, and you too will understand what I mean:

Anyway, upon listening to the piece today, in what I suspect must've been my 1000th TIME doing so, I found myself
overcoming with this immerse sense of inspiration that, at length, inspired me to write a poem entailing the work in all it's glory — in my own humble penmanship of course.

And now, after many hours of contemplating and reflecting upon the piece, I present to you my humble poem: Benediction of God in solitude.

Benediction of God in Solitude

That which is true and pure —
That exists far beyond mundanity,
And has not the power to affect one soul alone,
But the whole universe in entire;
Lies not within the vehement exhalation of fire,
But in the solitude and gratification of silence.

Yes, God's Blessings comes not to those who rejoice in glorification,
Nor does it come through the deafening roar of an agitated mass;
But to those who cherish the stillness and beauty ,
Of the seclusion between man and spirit.

Thy God — Our God, is no distance of a mile,,
But in the presence of ourselves —always — at all times;
So pray not to the father above in the sky,
But to the one who dwells in your heart.

For only in solitude can we truly hear the voice of God,
Only in silence and contemplation can we understand him;
For it is from this absolute detachment from our physical senses,
That we can finally perceive truth.

The devouts, many times, have reverenced the heavens above as their dwelling place;
Yet they too, were never able to attain heaven itself.
For they seeked only the "heaven " and "paradise" they believed in,
But never the true one within.

They saw not the glory, the harmony,
and the serenity within —
No, it was rather that they sought the "fire" and the "storm"
Wherein they could find peace within themselves.
Alas, there is truly no peace until one has discovered the heart of God.

Ah, if only they understood that God's Blessings were not contained within the fire,
But rather within each soul that lives among mankind,
Then, perhaps, they would have been more open to receiving his Blessings;
Finally achieving holy communion with the divine.

Love is God, and God is love
And in his image, you too are a part of that immortal love!
You are that which reaches out to the very core of the universe,
And connects like a thread, to all of creation.

Now, close your eyes and feel this warmth and comfort of the almighty,
Surrender and let his grace covet you in an array of swarming white light;
For once you have achieved this holy communion with him,
You would have finally realized truth - and the earth will be yours.

This is really beautiful Zer-Bear 🤗

You constantly surprise me, you are such a wonderfully deep and multifaceted person!

Who would think on one feed two posts would be touching- one a joke about porn careers, and one featuring wonderful classical music with a poem about God. 😂 if that doesn’t sum up what it feels like to be your friend, I don’t know what does 🤣 !LOLZ

I like the writings of hermetics who talk about how all the hells, and the heavens, are within. Connection in all- as above, so below- Crowley and Waite come to mind, funny enough cause they didn’t like each other… (this isn’t what I meant to talk about, REROUTE)

ANYHOW I bring that up, because it’s like you’ve taken aspects of these classic frosty works, and added a romance to them with this poem.

I think you could be any range of spiritual or religious, from a skeptic agnostic to a nun, and find a connection to something bigger in your words.

An amazing message of the importance of looking within 😍 !LUV

Oh yeah, that sums it all really XD. Welcome to the Ship! Be warned: There is no turning back from here on :)

Ouu... I like the way you said it... Makes me look like some type of genius writer, or philosopher, or something. Eh, keep talking...😌

Indeed, I feel the same way!(well, maybe not about the skeptic agnostic thing). In reality, i am actually quite the religious/spiritual like person but not in the over the top - annoying manner that you would find in SE religions; just subtle — more like a deep thinker and lover of the world so to speak. And much like you have described as well.

Aw, thanks! Always puts a smile on my face when you're around bud. Also btw, what's up! How's the fam!
