Sunflower - Post Malone and Swae Lee (Afrobeats Cover) | Vibes Week 39 | Legendary Movie Soundtracks

Hey everyone,
I honestly had fun putting this together. The original “Sunflower” by Post Malone and Swae Lee already has a vibe of its own, but I kept wondering what it would sound like if it took a detour through Afrobeats with a little Reggaeton bounce to keep things interesting.

The theme for this week is “Legendary Movie Soundtracks” and I decided to reference the soundtrack in one of my favorites movies from the Marvel Universe: Into The Spidervese. In which, the movie being about courage, self-discovery, and stepping into your own destiny, perfectly connects with the song’s themes of love, support, and holding on through challenges…

This cover is my own spin: stripped-down, groovy, emotional in a different way. I didn’t want to just remix the beat or sing over a karaoke version. I reinterpreted the whole thing from the chords up—carving out new space for rhythm, bounce, and that Afro-dancehall feel. It still keeps the soul of the original but speaks in a new dialect.

Whether or not it makes the final shortlist, I’m just happy I took the time to create something different. It’s one of those moments where you realize music really is a language we can all remix.
