Lagos Lovin' - Sewa (Cover) | Vibes Week 42 | No Theme
Some songs come at just the right time. For me, “Lagos Lovin’” by Sewa was one of those: a track I had on repeat during a quiet, isolated period. It stood out from regular Afrobeats with its soulful, jazzy energy, and that sound always stuck with me.
So when @whaletone reached out saying he was open to a collab, I immediately pitched Lagos Lovin’ to him. He caught the vibe instantly, and we decided to reimagine it with just lead guitar and bass — replacing the vocals with Whale’s expressive guitar work while I held down the groove.
We recorded everything remotely, sending ideas back and forth until it just clicked. What stood out most to me were Whale’s jazzy fills and smooth finger-taps toward the end — that touch gave the piece so much soul.
This entry also marks Whale’s first introduction to the Vibes community, and I’m glad the onboarding is through something we both poured emotion into. Here’s our version of Lagos Lovin’ — a warm, groovy tribute to good music and even better energy. 💫
