Here we are again, listening to albums. This time, we're exploring a wider variety of genres. I was curious about the first things I saw on the platforms.

When I was a child, the music that played the most was urban genres. Let's start with some of that. A complete album to see what we find.

First album to listen to: DATA - Tainy.

I know many people who don't like Reggaeton. It's a genre that receives a lot of criticism. But Tainy has been contributing with his productions since he was 15 years old. I had to listen to something from him. I've been hearing his name since my earliest parties.

This album is like a compilation of songs, but they also added new things. That's what makes it a studio album.

This album is insane. Without a doubt, I don't know where to start. I'm listening to it as I write this, and I have to start from the beginning, there's no other way.

It's a 59-minute album; it's like watching a movie, listening to complete albums.

The first song is "Obstáculo," performed by Mike Towers, a Puerto Rican rapper/composer.

My first impression was, "Seriously, the song starts like this... It can't be." I thought it was just for the music video, but the audio of the song is just like that. I wasn't expecting those effects in an album with Reggaeton. But it's 2023. It has evolved significantly, interacting with different sounds.

This is an intro with a clear and direct message, like how rappers do it, no beating around the bush. There's no beat, and the melodies with ambient voices are incredible.

They continue with various artists rapping, each with their own style. The track is really good.

The third song is the classic Reggaeton we know. With Wisin and Yandel performing, it's the first appearance of the genre in what we've been listening to on the album. That gives it an epic touch.

An interesting exercise I do when listening to albums is to listen to each song from start to finish, even if I don't like the song. And that pays off, which happened with the fourth song. It's a more modern Reggaeton, and there are effects in this type of Reggaeton that I find somewhat annoying. In previous years, at some parties, I heard similar effects in most songs of this genre, so it's almost like hearing the same song many times. But they're different artists, really.

Especially when you're tipsy, at this point, you start to notice something repetitive in the sounds. But at 3:11 of this song, Tainy does something that makes me repeat that part many times. A synthesizer starts playing notes rapidly, a classic of old-school Reggaeton. Suddenly, the audio cuts many times, and a sort of Reggaeton breakdown starts. This completely refreshes the song.

He brought in the style of new Reggaeton and made it possible to listen for 5 minutes. It's the first time I've heard something like this. This guy is a genius.

We're not even halfway through the album. And the vibes this album gives us are like, "These guys are music entrepreneurs." Tainy is the embodiment of Music and Money dancing closely.

After this fourth song, "Fantasma | AVC," other genres follow. A break from Reggaeton, apparently. Some even have electric guitars making melodies, like in "11 Y ONCE."

The song "11 Y ONCE" is about the male part of the relationship getting tired. So, he walks away and leaves the girl, still loving her but knowing it won't work.

Then comes an interlude called "desde las 10," which is a response to the previous song. The response is from the female perspective. She says, "Go with the idea that it was you. But in truth, it was me who did everything to make you leave."

The male part has a Reggaeton beat with open hi-hats and even fills. It's not the usual. On the other hand, the female part doesn't have a beat. It's darker and sadder. It offers a female perspective that we men don't know.

You think you're the one distancing yourself from the girl, and the truth is, she indirectly made everything happen that way. It's definitely darker.

Then comes a song with The Marias and Young Miko. Reggaeton with The Marias. Suggestive.

I'm a fan of female voices, and I've heard The Marias before. It's great to hear about their collaboration with Tainy.

In the following songs, we return to Reggaeton. Like in two songs. A break from it, and then we explore other genres. According to the data, this album includes Italo Disco and Afrobeat. It's the first time I'm defining what Italo Disco and Afrobeat are.

We encounter a collaboration with Skrillex, for example. I would say that's Afrobeat.

It's interesting how one song, ends with arpeggios of acoustic instruments. Before reaching "Lo siento BB" with Julieta Venegas.

It's great to hear Julieta say, "Fearlessly, Daddy, come and give me more." This song won several awards, as far as I know.

Then there are songs that vary in rhythms and sounds. We get to an Italo Disco with Rauw Alejandro in "SCI-FI." It's interesting. At the end of the track, they add the characteristic Reggaeton rhythm. An opening for the following interlude.

This interlude is crazy because it goes from Italo Disco to having Chencho sing with a classic Reggaeton flow, but the beat is super slow.

In terms of theme, this album features a girl lying down with short pink hair. Wires are connected to her mind, charging her with the DATA, which would be the songs of this album, I suppose.

I have no words to describe the song called "PARANORMAL." The most I can do is write its name in capital letters. I didn't expect those sounds in that song.

And it ends similar to how it started. A track without a beat and a rapper speaking honestly about a topic. But this time, it's less violent and aggressive; instead, it's about vulnerability. In the end, they added the sound of a woman waking up in shock, breathing heavily. I suppose that's the pink-haired girl who was receiving the DATA.

I don't know what to listen to after this 😂.

Avis Vox (BONUS)

I came across a Dance/Electronic single. "Back Me My Freedom." It's great, too bad this girl doesn't have albums or anything. But I'll leave her song here as a bonus.

I also listened to another single. I suppose it's single since I looked for information about the song and didn't find much. There's so much music to listen to, but I wanted to continue with something similar to the album we just heard.

Let's move on to the next album.

I've already heard this album. It's from last year. I thought about analyzing it this time. Reading about who was behind all this and picking some songs for the playlist.

In a song from the album DATA, Bad Bunny drops a punch line that says "the only one who releases an album and all the tracks stick." Well, this album is somewhat like that.

The first song was heavily listened to, at least here in this country, and several others from this album. I remember one party where 90% of the songs were from this album.

Unfortunately, I don't have much more to comment on. The first impression was at parties. I remember thinking about this variation of genres; it was crazy to see a Reggaeton artist. Although Bad Bunny had already performed tracks that weren't trap or Reggaeton on previous albums.

It was interesting to see that he released another album and that it still had "the touch." When something has so much flow, you feel like that energy will run out at some point.

Coincidentally, the two songs I liked from this album were both produced by Tainy.

But overall, they're all good. The percussion, melodies, and synthesizers used as basslines make it danceable. It's no wonder they used it at all the parties.

Despite that, there are tracks in this style of music that are meant just for listening. It's interesting because it has these pauses for dancing. It's as if they knew that people would want to take a break right at that point in the album to chat or get a drink.

The variety of styles in this album is overwhelming. We're talking about elements like alternative rock, afro beats, ballad, bossa nova, chillwave, dancehall, disco, electronic, dance-pop, hip-hop, house, psychedelic, R&B, sandungueo, samba, soul, synth-pop, techno, and trap.

The first time I heard Bad Bunny was through memes. From the song "Callaita." I laughed and then thought I should listen to the original song to see how it was. I fell for the marketing. I was impressed by those deteriorated carnival carousel sounds in the first few seconds.

This song is how they end the studio album.

Moscow Mule. After the Beach. I Behave Nicely. Tití Asked Me. A Little While. I'm Not Jealous. Tarot. Small Fridge. The Current. Effect. Party. Downpour. Lovely Little Eyes. Two Thousand Sixteen. The Blackout. Another Sunset. August. Callaita. All of these tracks work, at least in this part of the world. I'd love to travel to see what they listen to at parties in different areas.

Before this, there are several albums by Bad Bunny that are somewhat similar. Like YHLQMDLG, Oasis, x100pre. He's been making waves since 2018. I need all those albums.

Feid

I've heard something about Feid. He's a Colombian singer in these genres. I saw he has around 108 singles released. When did that happen? Certainly, I haven't been to parties for a whole year. But that's a lot of singles released.

Most of the attachment people have to these songs comes from specific moments related to the background music. If you danced to a song with a girl you like at a party, you'll never hear that song the same way again. It becomes something new, something you want to repeat. This is very Latin of us.

That's why most people want to hear "Old Reggaeton" again. To remember what everything was like before, as it was music that was everywhere. It's a nostalgia effect.

And that's why older people mostly don't like these new songs that are nothing like what they danced to at their parties. Although Bad Bunny put a Mambo in his album. Well, there's a moment for every genre, I suppose.

Escuchando álbumes para un set list.

Estamos aquí de nuevo, escuchando álbumes. En este caso estamos escuchando, variando un poco más en géneros. Me dio curiosidad lo primero que vi en las plataformas.

Cuando era un niño, la música que sonaba más eran géneros urbanos. Vamos a comenzar con algo de eso. Un álbum completo a ver que encontramos.

Conozco a muchos que no les gusta el Reguetón. Es un género al cual critican mucho. Pero es que Tainy viene cooperando desde lo 15 años con sus producciones. Tenía que escuchar algo de él. Llevo escuchando su nombre desde mis primeras fiestas.

Este álbum es como una recopilación de canciones, pero también se grabaron nuevas cosas para agregar. Eso lo hace un álbum estudio.

Este álbum es una locura. Sin duda, no sé por donde empezar. Lo estoy escuchando mientras escribo esto y es que tengo que empezar desde el principio, no hay otra forma.

Son 59 minutos, todo el álbum es como ver una película, esto de escuchar álbumes completos.

La primera canción es "Obstáculo" interpretada por Mike Towers un rapero/compositor puertoriqueño.

Mi primera impresión fue "En serio la canción comienza así... No puede ser". Pensé que era solo por ser el vídeoclip, pero el audio de la canción es así tal cual. Los efectos que usaron no los esperaba en un álbum con Reguetón. Pero ya es 2023. Ha evolucionado bastante, interactuando con distintos sonidos.

Esto es un intro con su mensaje claro y directo. Cómo lo hacen los raperos, sin rodeos. No hay batería, y las melodías con voces ambientales están brutales.

Continúan con varios artistas rapeando cada quien con su estilo. La pista está muy buena..

La 3ª canción si es el Reguetón de toda la vida. Con Wisin y Yandel interpretando la primera aparición del género en lo que vamos escuchando de álbum. Eso le da su toque épico.

Un ejercicio interesante que hago al escuchar álbumes es que escucho la canción de principio a fin. Aún sí, la canción no me parece buena. Y eso es premiado, lo cual pasó con la 4ª canción. Es un reguetón más moderno, y hay efectos en esta clase de reguetón que me parecen algo molestos. En los años pasados en algunas fiestas escuchaba en la mayoría de las canciones en este género, efectos similares, entonces es casi como repetir la misma canción muchas veces. Pero son diferentes artistas en realidad.

Sobre todo si estás ebrio, ya en este punto empiezas a notar algo repetitivo en los sonidos. Pero en el minuto 3:11 de esta canción, Tainy hace algo que me hizo repetir esa parte muchas veces. Empieza un sintetizador a ejecutar notas rapidísimo, clásico del antiguo reguetón. De repente corta el audio muchas veces y empieza una especie de Breakdown de Reguetón. Este refresco la canción por completo.

Metió el estilo del reguetón nuevo, e hizo que escucharlo por 5 minutos fuera posible. Es primera vez que escucho algo así. Este tipo es un genio.

No vamos ni por la mitad del álbum. Y las vibras que nos da el álbum es: "Estos tipos son unos empresarios musicales". Tainy es la definición de Música y Dinero bailando pegado.

Después de esta 4ª canción "Fantasma | AVC" vienen otros géneros. Un descanso del Reguetón al parecer. Algunas tienen hasta guitarras eléctricas haciendo melodías. Cómo es el caso de 11 Y ONCE.

La canción 11 Y ONCE, se trata sobre que la parte masculina se harta de la relación amorosa. Entonces se aleja y abandona a la chica, aun queriéndola, pero sabiendo que no va a funcionar.

Después viene un interludio llamado "desde las 10". El cual es una respuesta a la canción anterior. La respuesta es de la parte femenina. La cual le dice "Vete con la idea de que fuiste tú. Pero en verdad fui yo, la que hizo todo para que te fueras".

La parte masculina tiene una batería de reguetón la cual tienes unos Open Hit-Hats y hasta Fills. No es lo de siempre. En cambio, la parte femenina, no tiene batería. Es más oscura y triste. Dando esta perspectiva femenina que desconocemos los hombres.

Tú crees que te alejas de la chica, y la verdad es que ella indirectamente hizo que todo sucediera de esa manera. Sin duda es más dark.

Después viene una canción con The Marias y Young Miko. Reguetón con The Marias. Sádico.

Soy fan de las voces femeninas y ya había escuchado a The Marias. Es genial escuchar la colaboración con Tainy.

En las siguientes canciones volvemos al Reguetón. Cómo en dos canciones. Un descanso de ello, y vamos con los otros géneros. En este álbum según los datos encontraremos italo disco y afrobeat. Primera vez que defino que es italo disco y afrobeat.

Nos topamos con la colaboración con Skrillex por ejemplo. Yo diría que eso es Afrobeat.

Es interesante como en una canción termina con arpegios de instrumentos acústicos. Antes de llegar a "Lo siento BB" con Julieta Venegas.

Genial escuchar a Julieta decir "Sin miedo papito ven y dame más". Esta canción ganó varios premios, tengo entendido.

Después una rolas que varían sus ritmos y sonidos. Llegamos a un italo disco con Rauw Alejandro en SCI-FI. Está interesante. Al final del track ponen el ritmo característico del reguetón. Apertura para el Interludio que sigue.

Este interludio está loquísimo porque viene de un italo disco, y ponen a Chencho a cantar con un flow de Reguetón de toda la vida, pero super lento el beat.

Entiendo de temática este álbum tiene a una chica acostada de cabello rosa corto. Con unos cables que van a su mente y le están cargando la DATA, que serían las canciones de este álbum, supongo.

No tengo palabras para describir la canción llamada PARANORMAL. Lo máximo que puedo hacer es escribir su nombre en mayúscula. No esperaba esos sonidos en esa canción.

Y termina similar como empezó. Una pista sin batería y un rapero hablando sinceramente de un tema. Pero esta vez menos violento y agresivo, en vez de eso, fue más cómo mostrarse vulnerable. Y al final colocaron el sonido de una mujer despertando en shock con la respiración agitada. Que supongo que es la chica de pelo rosa que estaba recibiendo la DATA.

Ya no sé que escucharme después de esto 😂.

Avis Vox (BONUS)

Me encontré con un single de Dance/Electrónica. Back Me My Freedom. Está genial, lástima que esta chica no tiene álbumes o algo. Pero te dejo su canción como bonus. 

También escuché otro single. Supongo que es un single, ya que busco información sobre la canción y no aparece mucho. Hay mucha música por escuchar, pero quería seguir con algo similar al álbum que acabamos de escuchar.

Este album ya lo había escuchado. Es del año pasado. Pensé el analizarlo esta vez. Leer sobre quienes estaban detras de todo esto y escoger algunas canciones para la playlist.

En una canción del Álbum DATA, Bad Bunny lanza un punch line que decía "el único que saca un disco y pega todos los tracks". Bueno, este álbum es algo así.

La primera canción fue muy escuchada, al menos acá en este país, y así varias de este disco. Recuerdo que una fiesta era el 90% canciones de este álbum.

Lastimosamente, ya no tengo mucho que comentar. La primera impresión fue en fiestas. Recuerdo que pensaba en esta variación de géneros, era algo muy loco de ver en un artista de Reguetón. Aunque ya Bad Bunny había interpretado pistas que no fueran de Trap o Reguetón en discos anteriores.

Fue interesante ver que saco otro álbum y que este todavía tuviera "el toque". Cuando algo tiene tanto flow sientes que en algún momento se acabará esa energía.

Casualmente, las 2 canciones que me gustaron de este disco, el único productor fue Tainy.

Pero en general todas están buenas. La percusión, las melodías y los sintetizadores usados como bajos, todo hace que sea bailable. No me extraña que lo usaran en todas las fiestas.

A pesar de ello, también hay tracks que son de este estilo de música que está hecha para solo escuchar. Es interesante, porque tiene esta clase de pausas al baile. Es como si supieran que la gente querría tomarse un descanso justo en ese momento del álbum para charlar o ir por una bebida.

La variedad de estilos en este disco es demasiada. Estamos hablando de elementos como rock alternativo, afrobeats, balada, bossa nova, chillwave, dancehall, disco, electrónica, dance-pop, hip-hop, house, psicodélica, R&B, sandungueo, samba, soul, synth pop, techno y trap.

La primera vez que escuche a Bad Bunny fue por unos memes. De la canción callaita. Me reí y luego pensé que debería escuchar la canción original a ver como era. Caí en el marketing. Me impresiono en los primeros segundos esos sonidos de carrusel de feria como deteriorados.

Justo con esta canción terminan el álbum estudio.

Otro Atardecer. Agosto. Callaita. Todas estas son tracks funcionales, al menos en esta zona del mundo. Me gustaría viajar para ver que escuchan en las fiestas de cada zona.

Antes de este hay varios álbumes de Bad Bunny que es algo similar. Cómo YHLQMDLG, Oasis, x100pre. Dando de que hablar desde el 2018. Necesito todos esos álbumes.

Feid

He escuchado algo sobre Feid. Es un cantante colombiano de estos géneros. Vi que tiene como 108 sencillos lanzados. ¿Cuándo pasó eso?. Sin duda no he salido más a fiestas por un año entero. Pero son demasiados sencillos publicados.

La mayoría del apego que crea las personas a estas canciones son por momentos específicos relacionados con la música de fondo. Si ese día en la fiesta bailasteis una canción con una chica que te gusta, esa canción ya no la vas a escuchar igual más nunca. Será algo nuevo, y algo que vas a querer repetir.

De ahí viene la mayoría de las personas queriendo volver a escuchar un "Reguetón Viejo". Para recordar como era todo antes, ya que era música que estaba en todos lados. Es un efecto de nostalgia.

Y por eso mismo es que las personas mucho mayores no les gustan estas nuevas canciones que ni se acercan para nada a lo que ellos bailaban en sus fiestas. Aunque por ahí Bad Bunny puso un Mambo en su álbum. Bueno, para cada género hay un momento, supongo.
