Idea of collaboration between guitarists - Barinas, Venezuela.
Great Guitar Collab Barinas Venezuela.
Intro.
Hello, welcome. Thank you for entering this post. I greet you from Barinas, Venezuela. My name is Jesús Almenar. I study music. In this post, I want to share my experience collaborating with several guitarists in my city.
I will also comment a little about my relationship with music.
The video of the collaboration is attached below. I have divided this post into several sections. If what catches your attention is to see the video of the collaboration you can navigate through the index to go directly to it.
About me as a musician.
At the moment I am self-taught. I spent a year and a half in a technological school in my city. I got the title of a technical musician in acoustic guitar. But since then I did not study any more in any academy.
Time went by, and I participated in some projects and earned some money. But for some reason, as the years went by, I got further and further away from music. "There was money to be made in other, much more stable fields."
I dedicated myself to learning music theory and playing stringed instruments such as acoustic guitar, cuatro, bass, and electric guitar. Being the acoustic guitar the instrument in which I have mastered more techniques.
Taking up the guitar again.
In some of the events in which I participated, I met other musicians, as usual. These musicians were from other projects outside of the ones I participated in. One of these musicians was Ricardo Polo, a guitarist from another city who together with his brothers had a good group.
One day he invited me to record some stuff and I hadn't played an electric guitar for about 4 years. I explained it to him, but he insisted that it didn't matter, that the idea was to do it.
I said okay. So he came over with his interface and we recorded some guitars at Drop C for a Killswitch Engage cover.
I told him I would just do the base guitar. I studied the score for a few hours and we recorded it.
For the video, I wanted something fun. So in the beginning, I'm sleeping, they come into the room, throw the guitar at me to wake me up and then I go back to the music. Very symbolic, very funny since it doesn't make a lot of sense in general.
This video was edited by Ricardo from a cell phone or something like that. The idea of the video was for me to be able to share it on Hive.
Although the covers are great, I've always had this vision of creating something of my own. At least in this video, an unreleased guitar solo was integrated.
The plugins and all that was managed by this dude. It was very similar to the ones the band used. And the guitar solo was great.
Idea of collaboration between guitarists.
Ricardo came up with the idea of recording a collaboration with all the guitarists in the city who wanted to participate. But this time we would do the music ourselves. I liked the idea.
Time went by, a WhatsApp group was created and the initiative began. The other guitarists were added and passed the track on which we would have to create melodies or guitar solos.
I knew some guitarists, others I had never heard them play before.
The one who made the base was Dickley Nieves, another friend very dedicated to music creation. The genre was Metal. You could modify your part of the song. I asked for something with a more relaxed style within the genre since I was returning to playing electric guitar.
It was total madness, nobody knew how each other's solos sounded until everything was edited. And everyone recorded their part at home.
We participated more than I thought we would, and even at the end of the video our music teacher appears who gave guitar lessons to most of us.
They each have their own style, I think that's what made this collaboration so great.
At the beginning of the video, Ricardo wanted to say a few words of thanks and wish them happy holidays. The video starts at minute 1:28.
For the first video we do together and with separate recordings, I think it looks pretty decent.
Guitar Collab Barinas Video.
Good friends participated. As a result of this experience, I decided to buy my own interface. I understood that an audio interface for a musician is vital.
I have learned a lot from the music communities and soon I will share a lot of sounds. Created for different purposes.
Thanks for watching!
Well, I hope you have been entertained by this story of several musicians from my city and as a special guest the collaboration of Richard Chang, our teacher for several years here in the city of Barinas, Venezuela. A great teacher and guitarist since always.
It was a lot of fun creating music at that time. And now we inaugurate this kind of entry in my blog. There is still a lot to learn musically. But for sure we will share good sounds in the process.
