Let's Take A Look At The Unwanted Undead Adventurer

Good evening, everyone, and thank you for dropping by.
Today, I bring to you the series The Unwanted Undead Adventurer or Nozomanu Fushi no Boukensha. This is another one that I found on Crunchyroll, this time by complete accident.
The cover art looked pretty interesting, low-key and easily missed amongst some of the more flashy artwork on some of the series, but for some reason, it caught my eye, so I dove right in.
Warning, some spoliers ahead, you have been warned!
We start the series with Rentt Faina, a seasoned and experienced adventurer with the knowledge to be great, but sorely lacks the ability to push on to greatness. Exploring a Labyrinth, one of many around the world, doing as he does best, where he comes upon an unexplored and unmapped area of the Labyrinth. Thinking a quick look and then alerting the Guild about this new and unexplored area would potentially net him a good amount of money and hopefully a promotion up the ranks, Rentt dives on in to explore.
Unluckily for Rentt, he finds he has stumbled upon a Dragon's lair, who, without hesitation, decides to attack and kill Rentt. The end...

After Rentt's quick death, he wakes up to find that he is now a skeleton, which unfortunately is the lowest of the low of the undead monster rankings. The plus side is that he is still alive, though for how long?
Year of release: 2024
Aired: January 2024 to March 2024
Number of seasons: 1
Number of episodes: 12
Studio: Connect
Genre: Action, Adventure, and Fantasy
Episode run time: 23 minutes per episode
Age rating: PG-13
My rating: 6.8/10

Rentt sets out to try to understand what is going on and comes up against another skeleton. In their little fight, if you can call it that, Rentt is the victor and finds that he feels better after this win. He continues fighting monsters at his rank, while avoiding the adventurers, and finds that he is somehow 'levelling up' after each win.
With this knowledge, Rentt sets his plan in motion. If he can kill enough monsters, he might evolve and regain some flesh 🙃 Thus, this would allow him to leave the Labyrinth.
Over time, Rentt evolves into a Ghoul, which grants some flesh, but he still looks like a walking corpse!
With the discovery of this evolution, Rentt plans to become a Vampire, the top of the iceberg in the undead rankings. This would allow him to resume his life as an adventurer and return to the town where he lives.

He meets Rina Rupaage, a rookie adventurer with the guild's Iron rank, the lowest rank in the Adventurer's guild. Rentt manages to befriend her and asks her to buy him some clothes, in the hope he can disguise his ghoulish looks.
Much to Rentt's surprise and happiness, Rina does indeed come back bearing a sack full of clothes for him. Along with a mask, which Rina managed to buy really cheaply from some random guy in the market...
Yup, you guessed it, it's cursed and now is glued to his face forever!!!!!!!
This is the start of Rentt's new life out of the Labyrinth and back with the hopes of fulfilling his original dream of becoming a Mithril-class adventurer, the highest rank within the Adventurer's guild.

Overall, I enjoyed the series, it has some interesting and funny bits within. The most entertaining is Rentt's friend, Lorraine Vivie, she is a great character with some good lines, and the character design really adds an interesting mix to the characters.
If you are wanting a series with a deep and rich background and character stories and development, then sadly, this is not the series for you. It starts off well, then bam, it just seems to drop off, and we are greeted with new characters here and there at what feels like random times.
The action scenes are fairly basic but enjoyable, and the series as a whole shows potential. I'm just unsure if a second season would be able to build on the first series enough to make this a great overall series.
Another victim of not enough episodes per series to really allow the creators a chance to flesh out the series and show how good the story could be.
The artwork is very fitting in its colour choices and design. It is pleasing to the eyes and shows that they didn't skimp on their efforts with the artwork.
Now it's time for the musicical part of the review:
First, we have the opening theme song, IMMORTAL by JUVENILE
An upbeat and enjoyable song, it feels like a good choice for this series. I doubt it's one I would listen to often, but it was enjoyable nonetheless
Next we have the ending theme song, Keep Your Fire Burning by Mao Abe
This one seems a bit hit and miss, it's a nice song, don't get me wrong, but I felt that it just doesn't bring much to the series.

Hay no imagine waking up and being a skeleton, I go into collapse hahahahahaa. For some reason One Piece and Brook came to mind.
It would be creepy as hell for sure.
It's a decent series,I'm hoping that if they do a 2nd season, that it will actually do the story well
