For days I had the idea of preparing something very different to bring to Hive. A song that would break with everything I've been uploading lately. But I didn't have a clear idea of what it could be.

It happens to me constantly that when I finish some activity, I start singing any song, but it's a kind of reflex. It is an unconscious act and sometimes it surprises me that these are songs that I haven't listened to for many, many years. Sometimes they are songs that I wasn't even aware that I knew any part of.

Today, at the end of lunch, that happened, once again, and the song that came to me was this one, Tonada de luna llena, by our own Simón Díaz. It is a song that I have always considered a beauty, but because of the style needed to interpret it, I have never thought of singing it.

As soon as I sang a couple of notes, I realized that this was different from what I always sing and I knew immediately that this was the song I was looking for.

I must confess that it was a major challenge, for the reason I mentioned before. This song requires a very particular way of singing it, which I had never done before. But that difficulty became the main stimulus for me. So first I listened to several versions available on Youtube (which are countless and wonderful all of them) and finally I decided to do it as close as possible to the original version recorded by Simón Díaz himself, but of course, with my voice and way.

I believe that the worldwide fame that this piece has gained is more than deserved, because apart from being an authentic reflection of the sound of the Venezuelan plains and the voice of the peasant of our land, it is of impressive beauty.

I wanted to include in the video some image that would show the aspect of those lands that saw the birth of this type of music, the Venezuelan plains, and from there I felt the need to add the sound effects that accompany it....

Desde hace días estaba con la idea de preparar algo muy distinto para traerles a Hive. Una canción que rompiera con todo lo que he venido subiendo en los últimos tiempos. Pero no tenía una idea clara de qué pudiera ser.

Me pasa constantemente que al terminar alguna actividad, empiezo cantar cualquier canción, pero es una especie de reflejo. Es un acto inconsciente y a veces me sorprende que se trata de canciones que hace muchísimos años que no escucho. En ocasiones son temas que ni siquiera tenía conciencia de que me sabía alguna parte de ella.

Hoy, al terminar de almorzar, pasó eso, una vez más y la canción que me salió fue esta, Tonada de luna llena, de nuestro Simón Díaz. Es una canción que siempre he considerado una belleza, pero que por el estilo necesario para interpretarla, nunca me ocurrió cantarla.

Apenas entoné una par de notas, me di cuenta, que esto sí que era diferente a lo que yo siempre canto y supe de inmediato que esta era la canción que andaba buscando.

Debo confesar que fue un reto de marca mayor, por la razón que expuse antes. Esta canción requiere una forma de cantarla muy particular, que yo nunca había hecho. Pero esa dificultad se convirtió en el principal estímulo para mí. Así que primero escucha varias de versiones disponibles en Youtube (que son incontables y maravillosas todas) y finalmente decidí hacerlo de la manera más parecida posible a la versión original que grabó el mismo Simón Díaz, pero por supuesto, con mi voz y manera.

Creo que la fama mundial que ha ganado esta pieza es más que merecido, pues aparte de ser un reflejo auténtico de lo que es el sonido del llano venezolano y de la voz del campesino de nuestra tierra, es de una hermosura impresionante.

Quise incluir en el video alguna imagen que mostrara el aspecto de esas tierras que vieron nacer este tipo de música, los llanos venezolanos y de allí me surgió la necesidad de agregar los efectos de sonido que lo acompañan...
