This is my first time here, and that's why I want you to get to know an important part of my life, showing you what my day-to-day life is like as a mariachi in Cuba.
Everyone only sees the final result: the impeccable outfits, the perfectly tuned instruments, the super high energy when we perform those divine songs.
But what happens before that grand performance?
Well... first of all, we travel to the meeting point. It's almost always the director's house. We set a specific time and there we all are.
Almost always 20 minutes before the scheduled transportation time, we start getting dressed. The truth is, it's a very complex outfit since it includes a shirt, vest, jacket, tie, hat, boots, pants, and in my case, a skirt... each piece must be absolutely perfect because uniformity and cleanliness are also part of the group's quality.
When everyone is ready, each member grabs their instrument and heads to the transportation that takes us to the client's house. We've always traveled by car, but with the current situation in our country, it's cheaper to get around by tricycle, or as we call them in Cuba.
To be completely honest, there are six of us: trumpet, violin, guitarrón, vihuela, plus each musician's belongings... the trip is very uncomfortable. But there are always moments of laughter, singing at the top of our lungs with the music blasting on the highways, and even though we arrive exhausted, there's always a hug and a smile for those being honored.
During the performance, we get lost in our own world and even joke around while we play and dance to the rhythm of our music.
At the end, we take photos to remember the occasion and share a few minutes of the celebration before rushing off again to another activity...
Being a mariachi in Cuba is a beautiful contrast and at the same time very difficult: it's defending a beautiful Mexican tradition with all the flavor, warmth, and heart of Cuba. It's not always easy; there's exhaustion, hours of rehearsal behind the scenes that no one sees, but when you see the emotion and the applause of the audience, you realize that every second of effort is absolutely worth it. That's the greatest reward.

Es mi primera vez por acá y por eso quiero que conozcan una partecita importante de mi vida,mostrandoles como es mi día a día como mariachi en Cuba
Todo el mundo solo ve el resultado final: Los trajes impecables,los instrumentos totalmente afinados, la energía super alta cuando interpretamos esas divinas canciones.
¿¿Pero que pasa antes de ese gran espectáculo??
Bueno...primero que nada trasladarse hasta el punto de encuentro.Casi siempre es la casa del director. Fijamos un horario específico y ahi estamos todos.
Casi siempre 20 minutos antes de la hora citada del transporte nos empezamos a vestir. La verdad es un traje muy complejo ya que tiene camisa, chaleco, saco, lazo, sombrero, botas, pantalones y en mi caso saya...cada pieza debe estar sumamente perfecta porque que la uniformidad y la limpieza también forman parte de la calidad del grupo.
Cuando todos terminaron de alistarse cada uno de los integrantes agarra en mano su instrumento para ir hacia el transporte que nos lleva hasta la casa del cliente. Normalmente siempre nos hemos trasladado en carro, pero actualmente con la situación de nuestro país, es mas económico moverse en triciclo,o asi lo llamamos en Cuba.
Te voy a ser totalmente sincera,son seis personas, trompeta, violin,guitarron,vihuela, a eso sumale las pertenecias de cada músico o sea...el viaje es muy incómodo.Pero no faltan esos momentos de risas, canciones a todo pulmón con la musica a todo volumen por las carreteras y aunque llegamos con los huesos molidos siempre hay un abrazo y una sonrisa para los homenajeados.
Al momento de la presentación nos encerramos en nuestro mundo y hasta chistes nos hacemos mientras tocamos y bailamos al ritmo de nuestra música.
Al final,nos hacemos las fotos para el recuerdo y compartimos unos minutos dentro de la celebración mientras corremos de nuevo hacia otra actividad...
Ser mariachi en Cuba es un contraste hermoso y a la vez muy difícil: es defender una tradición mexicana bellísima con todo el sabor, la calidez y el corazón cubano. No siempre es fácil, hay cansancio, hay horas de ensayo detrás que nadie ve, pero cuando ves la emoción y el aplauso del público te das cuenta de que cada segundo de esfuerzo vale absolutamente la pena.Esa es la mayor recompensa.
