I feel a great gratitude for the women who have marked my life. Today I want to pay tribute to my grandmother Ana. My grandmother had approximately 21 children, a number that is astonishing in our days. She even raised children who were not biologically hers, but who always remember her fondly and call her mother. Despite being an illiterate peasant woman, she had a great instinct for business. Together with my grandfather, they dedicated themselves to growing coffee, corn and other products, as well as raising animals such as chickens, pigs and calves. Today, she is 98 years old, according to her identity card, although she claims to have been born in April 1925. Despite her advanced age, she enjoys a surprising mental lucidity. She clearly remembers many details of her childhood, probably thanks to a healthy diet and an active life. For me, she has been an example to follow. Even at her age, she cares about her farm, her animals and even thinks about new businesses. She recently sold a couple of bulls and bought four calves.

Siento una gran gratitud por las mujeres que han marcado mi vida. Hoy quiero rendir homenaje a mi abuela Ana. Mi abuela tuvo aproximadamente 21 hijos, una cifra que asombra en nuestros días. Incluso crió a hijos que no eran biológicamente suyos, pero que siempre la recuerdan con cariño y la llaman madre. A pesar de ser una mujer campesina y analfabeta, tenía un gran instinto para los negocios. Junto a mi abuelo, se dedicaron a cultivar café, maíz y otros productos, además de criar animales como gallinas, cerdos y becerros. Actualmente, tiene 98 años, según su cédula de identidad, aunque ella asegura haber nacido en abril de 1925. A pesar de su avanzada edad, goza de una lucidez mental sorprendente. Recuerda con claridad muchos detalles de su infancia, probablemente gracias a una alimentación saludable y una vida activa. Para mí, ha sido un ejemplo a seguir. Incluso a su edad, se preocupa por su finca, sus animales y hasta piensa en nuevos negocios. Hace poco vendió un par de toros y compró cuatro becerros.
