A warm greeting to everyone in this amazing #Music community. I have the pleasure of performing with my trumpet «If We Try», a Folk rock song composed by Don McLean in 1971. The lyrics talk about how love begins, the uncertainty of a relationship, trying something deeper, and enjoying the moment. This piece is in the key of G major, performed on my trumpet in A major. It has a soft melody, with short and repetitive movements that are charming. The harmony combines major and minor chords that reflect hope and doubt. The song has a time signature of 4/4, a moderate tempo, and a regular rhythmic base with simple syncopations. Since Monday, I have had the opportunity to practice it, and the most significant challenge was the fingering when moving from C# to low D, since on the trumpet the first is played with all pistons, and the last with pistons 1 and 3.

Pain can be seen as something negative, but it is something essential within our earthly life. How could we know the joy of healing and redemption without knowing pain? To know the sweet, many times it is necessary to know the bitter. In my personal life, I have suffered emotional, spiritual, and physical pains. Those sufferings have helped me develop faith, patience, empathy, and strength. I am impressed by people who have never suffered from headaches, or whose pain threshold is minimal. Their trial is also hard. Sometimes I wonder if anyone understands our pains, and then my belief comes to mind that Jesus Christ suffered for my pains and that He, through His own experience, understands our torments. Is it not wonderful to know that music can calm our heart, provide consolation, peace, and healing? That is the miraculous power of music. Enjoy this performance.

En mi vida personal he sufrido dolores emocionales, espirituales y físicos.

If We Try

When I see you on the street, I lose my concentration
Just the thought that we might meet creates anticipation
Won't you look my way once before you go?
And my eyes will say what you oughta know
Well, I've been thinkin' about you day and night
And I don't know if it'll work out right
But somehow, I think that it just might
If we try

Faces come and faces go in circular rotation
But something yearns within to grow beyond infatuation
Won't you look my way once before you go
And my eyes will say what you oughta know
Well, you've got me standin' deaf and blind
'Cause I see love is just a state of mind
And who knows what it is that we might find
If we try?

You're walkin' a different direction from most people I've met
You're givin' me signs of affection I don't usually get
I don't want you to pledge your future
The future is not yours to give
Just stand there a little longer
And let me watch while you live

'Cause when I see you on the street, I lose my concentration
And just the thought that we might meet creates anticipation
Won't you look my way once before you go?
And my eyes will say what you oughta know
Well, I've been thinkin' about you day and night
And I don't know if it'll work out right
But somehow, I think that it just might
If we try

Somehow, I think that it just might
If we try
Yes, somehow, I think that it just might
If we try
