Today I want to reflect on how important it is for musicians to remember where we come from, who we are, and where we are going. In my personal life, remembering these aspects has been like a lantern that illuminates my path. We all have our roots, whether genres, artists, or traditions, that form our sonic identity. For example, one of the inspirations for the King of Pop Michael Jackson was James Brown. Without a doubt, the Godfather of Soul influenced his way of dancing. It amazes me every time I see interviews with musicians, and they give recognition and honor to those artists who have influenced their lives. Now, from that origin, it is important to find our voice. Authenticity connects with people and generates a genuine bond. Furthermore, you must be able to not remain static, but also evolve and experiment. Since the future is just around the corner, one of the things that has helped me have a direction is to have goals, add and not subtract, adapt to changes, and move forward without going backward. Hoy quiero reflexionar sobre lo importante que es para los músicos recordar de dónde venimos, quienes somos y hacia dónde nos dirigimos. En mi vida personal, recordar estos aspectos ha sido como un farol que ilumina mi camino. Todos tenemos nuestras raíces, ya sean géneros, artistas o tradiciones, que forman nuestra identidad sonora. Por ejemplo, una de las inspiraciones del Rey del pop Michael Jackson fue James Brown. Sin duda, el Padrino del Soul influyó en su manera de bailar. Me asombra cada vez que veo entrevistas de músicos y ellos dan reconocimiento y honra a esos artistas que han influenciado en su vida. Ahora, a partir de ese origen, es importante buscar nuestra propia voz. La autenticidad conecta con las personas y genera un vínculo genuino. Además, debes ser capaz de no quedarte estático, sino también evolucionar y experimentar. Como el futuro está a la vuelta de la esquina, una de las cosas que me han ayudado a tener un norte es tener metas, sumar y no restar, adaptarme a los cambios y avanzar sin retroceder.
