Today I'm sharing my trumpet performance of “Photograph”, a soul ballad composed by Ed Sheeran and Johnny McDaid. It is a romantic song that describes a long distance relationship. For some time I have wanted to share songs by this artist, his melodies and lyrics are incredible. This piece is based on an experience lived by the artist. I feel empathy for this song, since at times in my life I have experienced being away from the people we love. I lived for two years separated from my family, where I had to face difficult situations, such as loneliness and illness. I love photography because it immortalizes beautiful memories. No one wants to appear in a photograph at their worst, we all want to appear smiling, and in our best version. Some accidental photos are perfect, because we look natural and authentic.

When my parents got married in the Church, many people took pictures. However, most of the photos when developed did not turn out well. Only one photo taken by a family friend remains, and it was one of the miracles of that celebration. When they went to take a photo, a roll of color photographs was purchased and inserted into the camera. After taking the photographs you took your roll to a photographic studio to develop. Apparently it was expensive to develop a scroll, and they were often kept in storage. There was the possibility of discovering how the photograph had turned out if you brought your eye to the tape, however, it was somewhat delicate. If you came out ugly, there was no way to solve it, that's how the photo would stay, unless you discarded the photo after it was printed. Today, with the rise of technology, it is much easier and cheaper to take pictures. If you don't like how it came out, delete it and take it again. There are even cameras that even if you are ugly, they make you pretty. It is already quite everyday to take a selfie and if it turns out well, you post that same photo on your social networks. I hope you enjoy my interpretation that I do with great affection and professionalism.

Photograph

Loving can hurt, loving can hurt sometimes
But it's the only thing that I know
When it gets hard, you know it can get hard sometimes
It is the only thing makes us feel alive

We keep this love in a photograph
We made these memories for ourselves
Where our eyes are never closing
Hearts are never broken
And time's forever frozen, still

So you can keep me
Inside the pocket of your ripped jeans
Holding me closer 'til our eyes meet
You won't ever be alone, wait for me to come home

Loving can heal, loving can mend your soul
And it's the only thing that I know, know
I swear it will get easier
Remember that with every piece of ya
Hmm, and it's the only thing we take with us when we die

Hmm, we keep this love in a photograph
We made these memories for ourselves
Where our eyes are never closing
Hearts were never broken
And time's forever frozen, still

So you can keep me
Inside the pocket of your ripped jeans
Holding me closer 'til our eyes meet
You won't ever be alone

And if you hurt me
That's okay, baby, only words bleed
Inside these pages, you just hold me
And I won't ever let you go
Wait for me to come home
Wait for me to come home
Wait for me to come home
Wait for me to come home

Oh, you can fit me
Inside the necklace you got when you were sixteen
Next to your heartbeat where I should be
Keep it deep within your soul

And if you hurt me
Well, that's okay, baby, only words bleed
Inside these pages, you just hold me
And I won't ever let you go

When I'm away, I will remember how you kissed me
Under the lamppost back on Sixth street
Hearing you whisper through the phone
"Wait for me to come home"
