Once again I find myself in this beautiful #Music community. I share with you my trumpet interpretation of “California Dreamin’” by The Mamas & The Papas. This musical piece is a mix of folk, rock, and jazz, composed by John Phillips and Michelle Phillips in 1963 and released on the album If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears (1966). Just imagine the context: young hippies wanting to escape an oppressive reality, longing for the dream of freedom, a warm climate on the Californian coast. The first time I heard this song was in the movie Forrest Gump. I don’t know if it happens to you that when you listen to music from the 60s, feelings of nostalgia come to your mind and heart. The original instrumentation is guitar, bass, and drums, with an instrumental bridge featuring the flute. The harmony is in the key of E minor, with a 4/4 time signature and a moderate tempo.

Una vez más me encuentro en esta bella comunidad de #Music. Les comparto mi interpretación con la trompeta de «California Dreamin’», de The Mamas & The Papas. Esta pieza musical es una mezcla de folk, rock y jazz, compuesta por John Phillips y Michelle Phillips en 1963 y lanzada en el álbum If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears (1966). Solo basta imaginarse el contexto: jóvenes hippies queriendo salir de una realidad opresiva, anhelando el sueño de libertad, un clima cálido en la costa californiana. La primera vez que escuché este tema fue en la película Forrest Gump. No sé si les sucede que cuando escuchan música de los 60, les vienen a la mente y el corazón sentimientos de nostalgia. La instrumentación original es de guitarra, bajo, y batería, con un puente instrumental con la flauta. La armonía se encuentra en la tonalidad de E menor, con un compás de 4/4 y un tempo moderado.
The good isn't always the best for us. Some things are superficially good, and over time we realize they weren't worth it. For example, someone may pursue a university degree, something positive, but eventually realize it wasn't something they enjoyed or that it wouldn't bring them satisfaction. We may go to a store and buy an item, and over time it has become non-essential. Working too hard, forgetting about our family, could destroy our relationship, and no matter how much money we earn, it would make up for the failure at home. Another case would be going to a recreational activity and missing the opportunity to serve someone in need. Now, my purpose is not to disqualify the good, but to reflect on the importance of prioritizing. It's not about rejecting the good, but rather seeking what builds up the most. No siempre lo bueno es lo mejor para nosotros. Algunas cosas superficialmente son buenas, y con el tiempo nos damos cuenta de que no valieron la pena. Por ejemplo, alguien puede emprender una carrera Universitaria, algo que es positivo, pero al final darse cuenta de que no era algo que le gustaba o que no le brindará satisfacción. Puede que vayamos a una tienda y compremos un artículo, y con el tiempo se haya convertido en algo no indispensable. Trabajar en exceso olvidando a nuestra familia, podría destruir nuestra relación, y por más dinero que uno gane, compensaría el fracaso en el hogar. Otro caso sería que vayas a una actividad recreativa, y que te pierdas la oportunidad de servir a alguien necesitado. Ahora, mi propósito no es descalificar lo bueno, sino reflexionar sobre la importancia de priorizar. No se trata de rechazar lo bueno, sino de buscar lo que edifica más. Espero con todo corazón de que disfruten de mi interpretación. Bendiciones para todos.
