This is Halloween… but make it ethereal, witchy, and autumnal 🍂 and Good Bye to my last hen Justina (with a cameo in the video)

This is my own version of the iconic Halloween song “This is Halloween” but reimagined in my ethereal, witchy, autumnal style 🍂🎃 featuring Justina, my hen who passed just a few days ago (23rd of October). The pumpkin is from my own orchard.
I made the arrangements, and backing vocals on this version as well as the instrumental as well.

But most importantly this short features my hen Justina who has just passed and now lives in Halloween town

One of my favorite movies ever, The Nightmare Before Christmas shaped my imagination growing up. I went to the cinema seven times with a notebook (in Spanish) to write down the lyrics and I fell in love with Jack Skellington as a teen (mostly because of that voice 🖤 and despite being a clay skeleton hahah). I still know every song by heart! A couple of years ago I covered Sally's song (I'll share that one at the end of the post too), so I reused some scenes (@hedac had helped me to model the spiral hill) and I filmed a lot of recent scenes (all the witchy autumn ones) to do this little short.

This version is my gentle, dreamy tribute to Halloween Town, where my dear companions Justina the hen, Henrietta, and my beloved rats (my fufunchis Tuula, Ritva and Taika) now dance beyond the rainbow bridge, or maybe in Halloween town with other ghosts.

All my covers are just heartfelt tributes, shared for fun and nostalgia on YouTube and Patreon, as you know on streaming I only list my original music (as Priscilla Hernandez)

Sadly, my dear hen Justina, the last one of my flock, passed peacefully in my arms a couple of days ago. I'm still heartbroken and I will post a proper post with some of my favourite pictures with her tomorrow, but I wanted to share this version of classic seasonal song "This is Halloween" from The Nightmare before Christmas movie. Justina had made a cameo (also Henrietta).

I am grateful if you leave a comment on the youtube short for her.

I recycled some scenes from my previous cover from this movie "Sally's song" but we also filmed new scenes for this one and she played a prominent role, I did not expect I was going to share after her passing.

I'm now finishing a lullaby in the memory of the entire flock

Last May, when Henrietta passed I recorded an incantation with them both in the forest, I have not shared it yet, and though it was short in the video it looked like Justina was following Henrietta. As it was a living tribute I decided to wait, and now I will try to finish it in memory of all the flock. The same day Henrietta died, months ago, Justina went mysteriously paralized and blind, she recovered her ability to move (and even perch like you see in the video) but I became her eyes and lived with us ever since.

I love you, my pitichoos.
Now they are all together again

Justina, Henrietta, Camilla, Cariño, Aughra, Layah, Debbie, Marjory, Flash, Brunilda
This little tribute in honour to all my pets at the rainbow bridge.
I'm not religious or particularly superstitious but still every Samhain ( All Hallow's Eve) I light a candle and I say the name of my pets aloud.

And here a photo I took myself with her the day we filmed her scene, October 2025 (I will share more of this day)
She was proudly perching like a champion :). She loves that spot in the woods and the lullaby I filmed with Henrietta was filmed in the same place (to be shared in the near future)

So did you spot Justina, Henrietta and all three fufunchis in the video?

Justina had already appreared in my Christmas Special "It feels like Christmas" from the muppets
And the flock also made a Xmas appearance in my version of "White Christmas"
I will make a follow up post with my favourite photos with Justina and my hens, there have been some I haven't shared. Here a sneak peek

Priscilla Hernandez and Justina, friends forever (saying good bye to Henrietta, May 2025)

Me and Justina last May when we went to the fields to farewell Henrietta. She became blind and paralysed, shortly after.
Priscilla Hernandez and Justina, Summer 2025

Justina and me later this Summer, when she started to stand up and walk again. Since then I became her eyes and she lived a fulfilling life as indoor pet. I have spent 24 hours a day with her ever since and somehow I struggle to see my day to day without her. She was (they were) part of my routine these past few years.

Sorry you lost your feathered friend. We just have one chicken now, but maybe we will get more.

A few years back we went to a concert where Danny Elfman presented his film music and he sang some of the songs live for the first time. Tim Burton was there along with Helena Bonham Carter and she sang Sally's song.

Happy Halloween!

Oh how cool, I wish I had seen I have a full version of Sally's song in the channel from which I reused the clips of the hill, all the autumn and Justina's part are recent. Most of these pictures are mate summer and autumn this year.
Justina was my last hen.

Wow, this cool!
I'm sorry to hear about your girl passing, but it looks as if she's had a wonderful life with you judging by all those amazing pictures. Incredible! 🥰

She was loved, I just edited the post to end it with a pic of all my feather angels. Justina was blind but fierce and so smart. I confess I am not processing her loss. I had filmed several videos with her (not only the one opening the post) and now It feels strange to share them but I feel they are a tribute.
Love come in all shape and sizes

They were all adults when they came to my care. People do not want to keep hens when they are not so productive. She lived with me six years. Laying breeds are prone to reproductive issues but Justina had a stroke and went blind last May the same day her last companion (also in the video) died laying two eggs in one day. She recovered balance and learned to walk again and she has been 24 hours with me since, she had a bit of offset so i had to hand feed her too, but she was pampered like a queen. I dunno, she had a great last day, and then a sharp decline, we cuddled and she passed quietly on my lap

Se parece Justina a una gallina que tuve, pero un gavilán se apoderó de ella.
Realmente tus imagenes me han hecho soñar, todo es hermoso el paisaje y tu también ; además hay energías agradables con algo de mistero
