Desde muy niño tuve muy buenas referencias del folklor venezolano, gracias a mi padre que lo amaba.

Recuerdo los viajes domingueros al Cautillo Club, donde, en la ida y en la vuelta mi viejo ponía a Mario Suárez en la radio del auto, con canciones que ya repercutían en la radio cubana, como: “Moliendo Café”, “Tengo el sentimiento herido” y otras.

El folklor venezolano es un canto de profunda raíz, un quejido que se expresa en joropos, tonadas y versos que acompañan la vida de su maravilloso pueblo.

Cada melodía guarda la fuerza de la llanura y la memoria de quienes transmiten esa reconocida tradición con voz, arpa y sentimiento.

En esta ocasión comparto mi interpretación de “Solo con las Estrellas”, obra del maestro Juan Vicente Torrealba [20 de febrero de 1917 – 2 de mayo de 2019, arpista y compositor venezolano de música popular], llevada al terreno de ese mágico sentir venezolano como un homenaje a la riqueza cultural que nos une en Latinoamérica.

Porque la música folklórica no es solo arte: también es identidad, divertimento y resistencia.

Espero que disfruten, conmigo, este viaje sonoro y que, musical y espiritualmente juntos, sigamos reconociendo en el folklor venezolano un patrimonio que merece ser escuchado y compartido, sobre todo, por las nuevas generaciones, donde Hive juega un importante rol...!!

Since childhood I had wonderful references of Venezuelan folklore, thanks to my father who loved it deeply.

I remember the Sunday trips to the Cautillo Club, where on the way there and back my father would play Mario Suárez on the car radio, with songs that were already resonating on Cuban radio, such as “Moliendo Café”, “Tengo el sentimiento herido”, and others.

Venezuelan folklore is a song of profound roots, a lament expressed in joropos, tonadas, and verses that accompany the life of its marvelous people.

Each melody carries the strength of the plains and the memory of those who transmit this renowned tradition with voice, harp, and feeling.

On this occasion I share my interpretation of “Solo con las Estrellas”, a work by maestro Juan Vicente Torrealba [February 20, 1917 – May 2, 2019, Venezuelan harpist and composer of popular music], brought into the realm of that magical Venezuelan spirit as a tribute to the cultural richness that unites us in Latin America.

Because folkloric music is not only art: it is also identity, joy, and resistance.
