La peña “HOJAS CLINICAS" es un espacio diseñado con el interés de reconocer la trayectoria de personalidades de la sociedad pinera, tanto del arte como de las ciencias médicas, que con su obra han contribuido al fortalecimiento de nuestros mejores valores, a la vez de estimular su acercamiento con el público. Pero sobre todas las cosas, nuestro objetivo principal es que nuestros invitados se sientan valorados y queridos; a la vez que comparten sus más entrañables vivencias.
Las presentaciones se realizan el tercer viernes de cada mes en su sede habitual del hospital viejo de Nueva Gerona, ubicado al frente del emblemático parque de las cotorras, además de otros espacios colaterales según eventos.

El proyecto surge en abril del año 2023, a partir de una idea conjunta del trovador, escritor y promotor cultural Yasnovi Pérez y del escritor, Dr. Delfin Alvarez Almanza, para dar respuesta a la necesidad de un espacio mediante el cual se divulgaran las obras literarias de catalogo del Centro Municipal del Libro y la Literatura en la Isla de la Juventud a través de sus propios autores, y de hecho hacerla extensiva a la divulgación del trabajo de otros creadores de contenido artístico, siempre pensando, que la Peña sirviera de reconocimiento y gratitud a la intelectualidad del territorio.

Por otra parte, pretendemos resaltar el aporte humanista y social de los profesionales de las ciencias médicas y sus trabajadores en la transformación de un sector vital para la población pinera.
Se concibió que esta actividad se desarrollara en un ambiente de intercambio e interrelación con las diversas manifestaciones artísticas y el público, por tanto, tendríamos como invitados a músicos, bailarines, actores y representantes de las artes visuales.

El nombre de la peña fue una sugerencia del poeta Rafael Carballosa, pues "Las hojas clínicas" es el título de un libro de Francisco Mir Mulet “Paco Mir” (1953-1998) quien falleciera de una neoplasia de cerebro en nuestro hospital después de años de tratamiento, y que sirviera de inspiración para resaltar su admiración por el trabajo de nuestro personal de salud.

Citando al profesor Roberto Únger Pérez, Historiador de la Ciudad de Nueva Gerona: Los lugares (de la ciudad) que nos importan hay que aprender a adorarlos cada mañana un poco más y ver cuánto más podemos hacer por ellos en lo material y en su desarrollo cultural, en la disciplina social. Gerona no es solo arquitectura, sino también su gente, sus hombres, mujeres, niños y jóvenes, la forma en la que cada uno de nosotros la sueña y la ayuda a crecer.
Esas experiencias me donaron mucho, pues me permitieron desarrollar un pensamiento más totalizador acerca de la identidad pinera, que no es más que la confirmación del orgullo de sentirse cubano y de contribuir desde acá al desarrollo de la nación. (Fin de la cita)
