All aboard this university train

Hello, friends of Q-Inspired-bay-Music, I take this opportunity to greet you and wish you a pleasant weekend.

It is a pleasure for me to introduce you a little to the cultural life of the University of Pinar del Río. University Extension carries out an entire process aimed at promoting educational development and the transfer of knowledge and culture among the community's various social sectors.

The activities focus on preparing and presenting spaces for scientific outreach, motivated by book promotions, music, artistic and literary exhibitions, moments that connect students, faculty, and the community at large. Our goal is to transform society into an artistic and scientific conglomerate, contributing to integrated community work.

In this sense, University Extension promotes culture in the university community and its immediate surroundings, in order to facilitate higher levels of sociocultural development. Within this framework, the promotion of reading as an outreach activity, which contributes to personal growth and fosters healthy recreation, is primarily based on artistic, literary, and specialized dimensions; the latter being closely related to scientific and professional culture.

This week, as always, one of these spaces, Pal Tren; took place at the Railway Station in the city of Pinar del Río. It was comprised of artists and improvisers who, as always, showcased their musical talents and skills, impressing everyone equally.

This time, visitors enjoyed a fun and entertaining experience, as well as a variety of books ranging from cultural themes such as the poetry of Dulce María Loynaz, the entertaining and thoughtful stories of our beloved Nelson Simón, some works by the beloved professor María Carolina Mora, and some digital copies of the latest issues of our scientific journals belonging to the LiberCiencia Publishing House, of which I am part of the editorial team, including proofreading and editing.

Knowledge of local literature and cultural values was fostered, thereby promoting their preservation. Some of the results of the Provincial Book Fair were highlighted, as well as the sharing of aspects related to Pinar del Río traditions by teachers and students of the Read to Believe Project of the Faculty of Secondary Education, who held a Language Skills Contest in honor of Language Day, on April 23rd.

We dressed up once again; another artistic tour gave quality and an emblem to the University and, with it, a credit to the university community and the community at large. We knew, from car to car, how to highlight an artistic and cultural product that is sometimes not fully exploited.
There was an outstanding cast composed of literary and musical talents, who knew how to add a lively touch to this Friday afternoon in March. It encouraged healthy recreation, with an integrated, communal, cooperative spirit, full of enjoyment, and a sense of delight, in order to strengthen the bond between the university and society. These intergenerational gatherings made it possible for not only our youth to gather, but also children and seniors.

A new edition is held every Friday. If you're nearby, it's open to lovers of good music and the reading of stories, poetry, and cultural traditions that grace the history of our university and our province.

It is a very interesting activity, especially because the public does not imagine that they will find a cultural proposal there at the train station while waiting to leave. Congratulations to the creators of the space, to the artists and to my colleagues at the University. Thank you for sharing the experience.

As someone that has spent a lot of time on bus stations (not so much at train stations) I can say I would enjoy that kind of show. Waiting aimlessly at a station is bound to be the most boring thing of all, but music and good books are the best way to snap up from plain boredom.
