Tercer Encuentro Guitarras en Santiago (ESP-EN)

Me enteré de casualidad y gracias a ese divino tesoro que son las amistades. De hecho, más que enterarme recibí la invitación a hacerles compañía a un concierto de música clásica.

La verdad pensé que sería un encuentro o evento donde algunos músicos o estudiantes de música interpretarían algunas obras. Incluso llegué a pensar que sería ir a escuchar a la banda municipal que cada sábado se presenta habitualmente en el parque Céspedes (casco histórico de la ciudad de Santiago de Cuba). Al fin y al cabo, no se había promocionado o publicitado ningún evento o función cultural en la ciudad.

Quizás por eso me sorprendió que el concierto fuera dentro de la catedral de Santiago de Cuba.

Se trataba del "Tercer Encuentro Guitarras en Santiago". Un evento que debido a su magnitud cultural debió tener más presencia mediática en la prensa local. Esto llama a la reflexión, ¿será un mal trabajo de promoción o se hizo con intención para mantener la asistencia limitada a ciertas personas? Quizás el clasismo intelectualoide al que hace mención @meli00 está más enraizado en nuestra sociedad cubana de lo que pensamos.

A pesar de todo, al concierto de la catedral asistió una buena cantidad de público. Aunque luego supe que este era la última presentación de un evento que duró tres días. En fin, la calidad de los artistas que se presentaron fue de altísima calidad, no tanto así la organización y producción del evento, que comparado con la profesionalidad de los artistas, dejó matices grises.

Las presentaciones estuvieron a cargo de Ariadna Cuéllar, el cuarteto Sultasto y la solista Lleliandra González acompañada por la Orquesta Sinfónica de Oriente, bajo la dirección del maestro Michael B. Elvermann.

La maestría con que ejecutaron las obras desataron ovaciones y aplausos para todos. Es increíble de como de un instrumento que parece simple a la vista pueden salir tantas variaciones sonoras que despiertan sentimientos y transportan la mente a otras dimensiones.

Además, la majestuosidad de la catedral y el especial efecto acústico que genera su interior hicieron de la experiencia una ocación sublime.

I found out by chance and thanks to that divine treasure of friendships. In fact, more than finding out, I received an invitation to accompany them to a classical music concert.

The truth is that I thought it would be a meeting or event where some musicians or music students would perform some works. I even thought it would be to listen to the municipal band that usually performs every Saturday in the Céspedes Park (historical center of the city of Santiago de Cuba). After all, no cultural event or performance had been promoted or advertised in the city.

Perhaps that is why I was surprised that the concert was inside the cathedral of Santiago de Cuba.

It was the "Third Guitar Encounter in Santiago". An event that due to its cultural magnitude should have had more media presence in the local press. This calls for reflection, is it a bad promotion job or was it done with the intention of keeping attendance limited to certain people? Perhaps the intellectualoid-classism mentioned by @meli00 is more rooted in our Cuban society than we think.

In spite of everything, the cathedral concert was well attended. Although I later learned that this was the last presentation of an event that lasted three days. Anyway, the quality of the artists who performed was of the highest quality, but not so much the organization and production of the event, which compared to the professionalism of the artists, left shades of gray.

The performances were given by Ariadna Cuéllar, the Sultasto quartet and soloist Lleliandra González accompanied by the Orquesta Sinfónica de Oriente, conducted by maestro Michael B. Elvermann.

The mastery with which they executed the works unleashed ovations and applause for all. It is incredible how an instrument that seems simple at first sight can produce so many sound variations that awaken feelings and transport the mind to other dimensions.

In addition, the majesty of the cathedral and the special acoustic effect generated by its interior made the experience a sublime occasion.
