Today I'm sharing my four latest favorites that I saved on Spotify, and they're truly melancholic bands, although Charly García manages to bring reality a little closer to reality before continuing to explore the emotional depths. I hope you enjoy the tracks.
Empezamos con el primer tema: “Well I Wonder”, una de las canciones más frágiles y melancólicas de la banda The Smiths. Incluida en el álbum Meat Is Murder de 1985, muestra a Morrissey en su punto más vulnerable, implorando ser recordado en medio de la indiferencia con su voz temblorosa, la guitarra húmeda de Marr y los sonidos de lluvia crean un ambiente íntimo. Es una súplica silenciosa por amor y reconocimiento, un retrato perfecto de la soledad que late detrás del orgullo.
We begin with the first track: “Well I Wonder,” one of The Smiths’ most fragile and melancholic songs. Included on their 1985 album Meat Is Murder, it showcases Morrissey at his most vulnerable, pleading to be remembered amidst indifference. His trembling voice, Marr’s wet guitar, and the sounds of rain create an intimate atmosphere. It’s a silent plea for love and recognition, a perfect portrait of the loneliness that lurks beneath the surface of pride.

Luego tenemos a una banda que me encanta: Cigarretes After Sex, es una confesión suave envuelta en neblina. Con su voz andrógina con la que canta todos sus temas y los vuelve mas tristes que sus letras, con sus guitarras flotantes, Greg describe el deseo y la pérdida, que no se puede retener. La canción lenta, entre la ternura y el agotamiento emocional, como una llama que no busca consumir, sino permanecer encendida un instante más antes de apagarse en el silencio.
Then we have a band I love: Cigarettes After Sex. It's a gentle confession shrouded in mist. With his androgynous voice, which he uses to sing all his songs and makes them even sadder than the lyrics, and with his floating guitars, Greg describes desire and loss, something that cannot be held back. The song is slow, poised between tenderness and emotional exhaustion, like a flame that doesn't seek to consume, but rather to remain lit for a moment longer before fading into silence.

Los grandes The Marías con “Nobody New”. Es un susurro sobre la rutina emocional y el desencanto. Con su mezcla de pop y jazz suave, canta con una calma que oculta la verdadera melancolía, la sensación de buscar algo distinto y encontrar... siempre lo mismo. La producción es minimalista, aunque tiene temas muy bien producidos audiovisualmente, casi cinematográfica, como una noche larga en la que uno baila despacio para olvidar que ya lo ha vivido todo.
The great The Marías with “Nobody New.” It’s a whisper about emotional routine and disillusionment. With its blend of pop and smooth jazz, it’s sung with a calmness that masks a true melancholy, the feeling of searching for something different and finding… always the same. The production is minimalist, though it has beautifully produced tracks, almost cinematic, like a long night where you dance slowly to forget that you’ve already experienced everything.

Luego de temas tan tristes, tengo uno para terminar satisfechamente mejor, con el gran Charly Garcia con el tema "Buscando un Símbolo de Paz", para bailar y disfrutarlo, un verdadero grito convertido en un himno, un llamado a sanar, a seguir cantando aunque el mundo, siga ardiendo.
