What’s your favorite song lyric? 🎵 🎶

Hello friends and everyone of the hive community. I hope we’re all doing well.

Different people listen to different kinds of music and while some of us restrict ourselves to just one or two genre of music, there are others who jam to almost everything. For some, it’s either hip life or nothing while others can listen to everything else.

Some people don’t have what they generally prefer but can dance or jam to anything as far as it is interesting or it gets to them.

For me I’m more into the slow kind of music. I tend to concentrate more on the lyrics and generally do not like noisy songs. I do however, listen to songs that are not slow as long as they appeal to me but slow songs are generally my preference.

As human as we are, we all in a way or the other have things that get to us. It could be music, a personal someone or special someone, our parents or even our significant other. Some of us read motivational quotes from people we think are worthy and it encourages us to continue working hard. While some of us seek therapy to help motivate us and some of us speak to people dear to us.

Personally, I am not someone who believes in motivational speakers. I don’t know why but I don’t seem to fancy them and so those who know me or have at least spoken to me about motivational speakers know I don’t hold “motivational speakers” in high regard.

I don’t fault anyone for listening to motivational speakers but it’s something I don’t fancy doing. I’d rather talk to a friend or family member I’m close with who gets me personally on some kind of level to give me an opinion on a matter.

However, I listen to music quite a lot and this particular song I heard about 4-5 years ago surprisingly managed to encourage me or if I may, motivate me 👀. Not the entire song though, but a lyric from the song got to me.

This song is in no way my favorite song or even my favorite artiste but I guess you like what you like and some things just hit different.

It’s a popular song that I think a lot of you have heard and so here it goes. The title of the song is 7 years old by Lucas Graham. The song originally was written by Lucas Graham as a way to grieve his late father.

7 years old is captivating and the lyric that got to me was ”I only see my goals, I don’t believe in failure”. The way I understand this, there’s really no failure till you finally give up.

We’re always told how much we should strive to achieve our goals and that often results us to seeking encouragement from people and asking for help.

There are a lot of ways one can go through to achieve his or her goals and we’re often so obsessed with the obvious way or the one way that we forget other alternatives.

“I only see my goals, I don’t believe in failure” tells me if I’m pursuing a set goal and there’s an obstacle, I should look to find different means that can help me achieve that goal.

Thank you.

Love a White Stripes verse
"White Americans, what? Nothing better to do
Why don't you kick yourself out? You're an immigrant too
Who's usin' who? What should we do?
Well, you can't be a pimp and a prostitute too"
