Three Tune Tuesday ~The Hollies ~ Tony Hicks ~ Birthday Boy #69 [Eng-Pt]
Welcome to my #TTT #ThreeTuneTuesday entry!
Good evening, everyone!
How was your week? Christmas is fast approaching. It's a time of year when we think more about others, and about those who, unfortunately, don't have as many reasons to celebrate Christmas. But we should think like this throughout the year, not just at the end of December...
But let's leave these more philosophical conversations, much to the liking (NOT) of heroldius, for another occasion! 😂
Today I bring you another birthday boy. This time it's an English guitarist and singer, known as Tony Hicks, who turns 80 today! What a beautiful age, don't you think?
Anthony Christopher Hicks was part of the British pop/rock band “The Hollies,” which he joined in 1963.
His career began at the age of 12 when he was part of a group called “Les Skifflettes” and participated in a well-known talent show at the time, Carroll Levis, back in 1957...
In 1960, he was part of the Manchester music scene, becoming the lead guitarist for Ricky Shaw and the Dolphins. He was invited by rival band The Hollies in February 1963 to replace guitarist Vic Steele, joining the band permanently at that time.
There is much more to say about Tony Hicks and The Hollies, but for those who want to know a little more, you can check the links at the end of my post for more detailed information about the singer and the band that I am sharing with you today.
As usual, I leave you with three of the songs I liked the most. Once again, it was a band that, despite having heard one of their greatest hits, I didn't know as well as I do now.
I hope to see you here next week, just two days before Christmas!
Make your list of gifts... Don't forget!

The post goes for Three Tune Tuesday challenge run by @ablaze. Don't be a stranger, and join the musical weekly ride!

“It's Not a Burden, It's My Brother” is a classic in the history of music. One of my favorites, thank you for sharing so I can listen to the Hollies again.

You are welcome, Mafalda! It's always nice to know that a particular song touched so many hearts trough the decades, right?
Have a wonderful Sunday!
Nice choice for a Three Tune Tuesday post. The Hollies had a great career. They first hit big here in the USA about this time 60 years ago, with their twangy jangly rocker, Look Through Any Window. I love the 12 string guitar in this one, played by the Birthday Boy - Tony Hicks!
