Three Tune Tuesday - Scorpions [En-Pt]

Welcome to another musical challenge this Tuesday! How are you feeling for the week, all set and energized?
Well, this week I've decided to choose three songs by a group that's been around for quite a few years... Called the Scorpions, this German group formed in Hanover in 1965 already has many ballads and is still going strong!
And why do I say that? Well, last Saturday I received a ticket to Rock in Rio Lisboa from a couple of friends! And on the first day of the 20th edition, the headliners were the Scorpions.
I can tell you that I used to listen to them when I was much younger, around the 90s... But soon after, I only recognized their most emblematic ballads.
Last Saturday's performance left me awestruck and completely overwhelmed! How does someone with such longevity still maintain the energy and vitality to keep an audience of around 80,000 people completely glued to the music and enjoying the performance?
It was spectacular to see that the audience spanned several generations, from fans who could have been my parents to the youngest, who could have been my children! Completely impressive. But that's for another post of mine on the subject.
I'm going to talk about the first big hit I'm sharing here, "Wind of Change". The song was written with inspiration from the important political and geopolitical moments that were taking over the world at the time. The fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and the end of the Cold War marked Eastern Europe at the time... And during the preamble to the song, during Saturday's performance, they even said that global change will have to be on the road to finding peace. But, in my opinion, you don't just have to wish and hope for peace, you have to build it, and I don't think that some of the authors of the current and most publicized conflicts want to end them, because they can't risk losing the political support that guarantees their permanence at the helm of their countries' destinies. It's interesting to see talks between the two sides of the barricade, with one of them always changing the terms and conditions previously demanded... Is it possible to achieve peace in the next 10 years?
The second song "When the Smoke is Going Down" has lyrics whose main theme is the breakdown of a relationship, in which the speaker confesses that he still hasn't managed to forget the other person. The heavy riffs of the electric guitar and the fantastic choruses accompanied by Kalus Meine mean that after so many years, this song is still adored by everyone who follows the band. Its energy and power, as well as the strong emotional intensity it conveys, is a key to opening a set of spontaneous air guitar and air drum performances for any fan, and that was no exception at the concert!
And thirdly, of course, I chose the song with which the German band closed their performance on the first day of the Festival. "Still Loving You". As corny as you might think this song is, one thing is for sure: If you showed it to a young person from the younger generations today, they might even recognize it as one of the songs their parents or their elderly uncle used to listen to on Friday nights... Ahahah

Bem vindos a mais um desafio musical nesta terça feira! Como se estão a sentir para a semana, tudo preparado e com energia?
Pois bem, esta semana decidi escolher três canções de um grupo que já cá está há uns bons anos... De seu nome "Scorpions", este grupo alemão formado em Hanover em 1965 já conta com muitas baladas e continua a dar cartas!
E porque é que eu digo isto? Pois bem, no passado Sábado, recebi de um casal amigo uma entrada para o Rock in Rio Lisboa! E no primeiro dia da vigésima edição, os cabeças de cartaz foram os "Scorpions".
Posso dizer-vos que eu ouvia-os quando era bem mais novo, por volta dos anos 90... Mas pouco tempo depois, apenas reconhecia as suas baladas mais emblemáticas.
A actuação do passado sábado deixou-me boquiaberto e completamente siderado! Como é que alguém com a longevidade ainda mantém a energia e a vitalidade para manter uma plateia com cerca de 80 mil pessoas completamente vidrada e a curtir a actuação!
Foi espetacular ver que a assistência contava com várias gerações, onde começava em fãs que poderia ser meus pais, até aos mais novos, que podiam ser meus filhos! Completamente impressionante. Mas isso ficará para outra publicação minha com esse tema.
Vou falar do primeiro grande hit que aqui partilho "Wind of Change". Música escrita com a inspiração dos momentos politicos e geopolíticos importantes que tomavam conta do Mundo na altura. A queda do Muro de Berlim em 1989 e o fim da Guerra Fria marcavam a actualidade da Europa Oriental de então... E durante o preâmbulo da canção, durante a actuação de Sábado, eles referiram mesmo que a mudança global terá que ser em caminho para a procura da Paz. Mas, no meu entender, não é só preciso desejar e esperar pela Paz, é preciso contruí-la, e não me parece que alguns dos autores dos actuais e mais mediáticos conflitos os queiram terminar, pois não podem arriscar a perder o apoio político que lhes garante a sua permanência aos comandos do destinos dos seus países. Interessante como vemos conversações entre os dois lados da barricada, e estando sempre um deles a mudar os termos e condições exigidos anteriormente... Será que é possível alcançar a paz nos próximos 10 anos?
A segunda música "When the Smoke is Going Down" tem uma letra que tem como principal tema o desmoronamento de uma relação, em que o seu interlocutor confessa que ainda não conseguiu esquecer a outra pessoa. Os riffs pesados da guitarra eléctrica e os fantásticos coros que acompanham por Kalus Meine, conseguem fazer com que passados tantos anos, esta música seja ainda adorada um pouco por todos os que seguem a banda. A sua energia e pujança, bem como a forte intensidade emocional transmitida é uma chave para abrir a um conjunto de actuações espontâneas de "air guitar" e "air drum" por parte de qualquer adepto, e que não foi excepção no concerto!
E em terceiro como não poderia deixar de ser escolhi o tema com que a Banda germânica encerrou a sua actuação no primeiro dia do Festival. "Still Loving You". Por mais lamechas que possam achar esta canção, uma coisa é certa: Se hoje, vocês a mostrarem a um jovem das gerações mais novas, até pode acontecer que ela a reconheça como uma das canções que os seus pais, ou o seu tio mais velho ouvia nas noites de sexta... Ahahah
Obrigado pelo tempo que tomaram, caso tenham lido esta publicação, mas mais importante que ouvir é escutar estas verdadeiras pérolas musicais de uma banda que já deixou, e que seguramente continuará a deixar muitos fãs admirados com as suas energéticas actuações!
