Three Tune Tuesday - Faith no More - Jim Martin ~ Birthday Boy #100

It’s amazing to see how an idea I had one Tuesday—instead of trying to find a song among the artists and tracks I already knew by that same artist or band, I’d search a platform for the list of people celebrating their birthdays that day and pick one—has come this far. I usually even choose artists I hadn’t heard of before, but after checking out their music, I’m really impressed, and I end up sharing my discovery with you here as well.

But today, July 21, there’s an artist on the list who’s part of a band that had a huge impact on my youth and early adulthood. In fact, even today, it’s one of those bands I never get tired of listening to, over and over again…

Today, I’d like to talk about the birthday boy, James Blanco Martin, more commonly known as Jim Martin. This American guitarist, who is celebrating his 65th birthday today, was a member of one of the most talked-about and iconic bands of the 1990s. Faith No More—he was a member from 1984 to 1993, contributing to the band’s first four official albums.

Angel Dust was definitely the album that introduced me to the band and led me to want to learn more about them and buy more of their music.

I bought other albums right after that, namely "King for a Day... Fool for a Lifetime", "The Real Thing", and "Album of the Year"... There was something about the band’s vocals and sound that won me over. Their irreverence and rebelliousness, combined with the clarity of their sound—which stood in contrast to other musical projects I followed, such as Nirvana, Guns N’ Roses, and Queen of the Stone Ages—always made Faith No More stand out.

Without going into too much detail, I’ll just share three tracks here that I consider to be among the most memorable in the band’s extensive repertoire
