Three Tune Tuesday # - Elliot Smith - Birthday Boy #9 [En-Pt]
Welcome to my #TTT #ThreeTuneTuesday entry!
Acclaimed singer-songwriter with a distinctive voice and a unique, melancholic sound. He has always released solo albums. Themes of alienation, or even depression or addiction have always been very frequent throughout his musical work.
He only recorded six solo albums, having released five of them before his untimely death at the age of 34 in 2003.
Born Stephen Paul Smith in Omaha, Nebraska, he spent most of his childhood and growing up years in Texas.
His biggest influences were always Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello and even The Beatles, among many others.
The famous album "The White Album" was the real precursor that inspired him to pursue his career as a musician. He wrote and recorded his first songs when he moved to Portland at the age of 14 (can you imagine?).
As I consider myself somewhat eclectic, I didn't know this fantastic artist, so I went to Spotify and tried to pick out three songs that could illustrate the mastery and beauty of this enormous singer's chords.
I hope you enjoyed my choice today!
Cheers
Começou a lançar sempre albuns a solo.

Never heard his music, very mellow!
Thank you Joan for stopping by! It was also a new one to me too!
Enjoy your week
Have a great day, new music to listen to always a pleasure!
It sure is! And specially "these days", since radio sometimes only plays "the most comercial ones"... thank God that Youtube, Spotify and other streaming apps make it almost immediately reachable for everyone with a internet connection!
We captured all our LPs onto digital years ago, plenty to spin when in the mood. Vinyl originals packed neatly, as the system went down a couple of years ago.
My parents had a turntable, but we didn't had much LP's back then... Then, when in 1998 (I think), they bought a new Stereo System with a CD reader, even the tapes that I had fallen into disuse... But I totally agree with you, nothing compares with the gentle a warm sound of a LD record!
We always had a full system with turntable, amplifiers and heavy speakers. Early 2000s decided to gift it to my brother who still spins his LPs daily, that I do miss as it was something I grew up with.
One more good excuse to arrange a weekend get together with your brother and play some nice good old records :)
Enjoy your weekend
At 14? Wow. His voice is comforting. I like your selections.
Thank you so much for the time and for the comment, Balikis!
Have a great week
