Three Tune Tuesday - Depeche Mode
Welcome to my #TTT #Three Tune Tuesday entry!
Today I want to talk to you about a fetish band for many people who, like me, belong to the generation born between the 70s and 80s. The well-known band is Depeche Mode. Since their beginnings in 1976, they have always made their presence felt with their blend of electronic music, where the synthesizers, together with the beats marked by contagious percussion, immediately made those who heard the songs shake their arms and even jump onto the dance floors that were more common until the end of 1998... I still remember going to some of the nightclubs where these songs were always playing and that didn't leave anyone leaning against the bar!
One of these clubs, which I believe has now closed, is located in the riverside area of Lisbon, in Cais do Sodré. Named after a cosmopolitan city, it enjoyed a more than diverse clientele, just like the Japanese city it was named after. Nowadays, if I had to choose a place to go out, I'm not even sure where I'd go... I'm getting really old!
I remember spending a few nights in my youth, mostly as a university student, where sometimes the pleasure of independence made me make those choices.
Nowadays, and having been working for around 20 years (... that's right, I'm really old!), priorities are different. Going out has gradually been replaced by nights when rest demands that the rest hour doesn't last much past 11pm. What an old man! But it's not all downsides! I notice that in terms of musical culture I may be one of the most eclectic people I know in my group of friends, perhaps only matched by two friends of mine. I miss my high school days, the nights trying to get the chords for the guitar from the grunge songs on the radio... Ah nostalgia. Well, now we know that remembering is living. So what better way than to remember three songs that I've painstakingly chosen from this band that has marked more than 20 years of European and even world music!
If you spend a little time watching these video clips, you'll realize the extreme care the artists took in presenting them. True works of the seventh art, don't you think?
The post goes for Three Tune Tuesday challenge run by @ablaze. Don't be a stranger, and join the musical weekly ride!
I've never really listened to Depeche Mode other than when their songs were in some of my compilation albums. However , your chosen videos does have a very 'my era' feel like.
And I know what you mean by nights out replaced by rest nights at this age 😅
We are on the same age "train", P.
Now I fully understand what my parents told me when I was a kid... Ahahah
