Good morning, everyone!

And especially to our friend @ablaze who promotes this weekly contest in which everyone shows 3 songs of their choice.

Well, this week will be my third week in a row in which I'm going to tell you about a band, one of whose members is completing another lap around the sun today, June 11... But this week I have something new!

Well, this day we don't just have one birthday boy in the group I'm going to tell you about, but two! That's right, how likely is it that a band will have two members in its ranks, who aren't twins, having a birthday on the same day? I think it's very slim indeed, but today, June 11, the stars have aligned!

The band I'm going to tell you about today is Stereo MCs.
This British hip-hop, funk, soul, house and electronic music band, born in the 80s, certainly made many of us dance to the rhythm of their joyful and rhythmic songs. Their backdrop was always a mixture of cultures and sounds, and they were always a step ahead of their time.

Birthday boy Robert Birch (1961), also known as Rob B, is the singer and front man of the group, making his voice the greatest asset, the clear tone of his voice, made many young people sing some of his greatest hits, such as “Step it UP” and “Connected”.

The other birthday boy is Nick Hallam, born in 1960, the DJ and producer who formed the band and is also known as “The Head”. I'm sure that their hits were perpetuated on vinyl, the most commonly used record in that decade, and more widely disseminated in the clubs that were playing the new sounds of Hip-Hop from Her Majesty's Land.

How many of you remember this group?

They rose to international fame with the album “Connected”, released in '92. The original single “Connected” reached stardom, achieving a resounding success that led the band to sell more than 10 million copies worldwide.

The band is based on multiculturalism, as its members come from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Its leader and birthday boy is Jewish, while the others are of Asian, Carabian, Afro-Carabian and Arab origin.

They were always an important and marked influence on electronic music and popular and urban culture in the 1990s, essentially because their music made hip-hop more familiar to less knowledgeable listeners.

Several albums were released, but after the huge success of “Connected”, none managed to achieve such prominence. They are still making music and playing live shows today!

Pois bem, esta semana, irá ser a minha terceira semana consecutiva, em que vos irei falar de uma banda, em que tem na sua constituição um elemento que completa hoje, dia 11 de Junho, mais uma volta em torno do sol... Mas esta semana tenho uma novidade!

Pois bem, este dia, não temos apenas um aniversariante no grupo sobre o qual vos irei falar, mas sim dois! É verdade, qual é a probabilidade de uma banda ter na sua constituição dois elementos, que não sejam gêmeos, de fazerem anos no mesmo dia? Acho que é de facto muito reduzida, mas, hoje dia 11 de Junho os astros alinharam-se!

A banda que hoje vos irei falar são os Stereo MCs.
Esta banda Hip-Hop Britânica, funk, soul, house de música electrónica que nasceu nos anos 80 de certo que fez muitos de nós dançar ao ritmo das suas alegres e ritmadas canções. Tendo sempre como pano de fundo, uma mistura de culturas, de sonoridades, e sempre com um passo um pouco à frente do seu tempo.

O aniversariante Robert Birch (1961), também conhecido como Rob B, é o cantor e quem encabeça o grupo, fazendo da sua voz o maior bem, o tom claro da sua voz, fez muitos jovens cantar alguns dos seus exitos maiores, como o "Step it UP" e o "Connected".

De certo que os êxitos que eles perpetuaram em vinil, o mais frequentemente usado naquela década, e mais difundidos pelos clubes que passavam os novos sons do Hip- Hop da Terra de Sua Majestade.

A banda tem a multiculturalidade como base fundamental, pois os seus membros advêm de diferentes etnias e panoramas culturais. O seu líder e aniversariante é judeu, enquanto que os outros eram de origem asiática, carabiana, afro-carabiana e árabe.

Foram sempre uma importante e marcada influência para a música electrónica e para a cultura popular e urbana da década de 90, essencialmente, tendo a sua música tornado o hip-hop mais familiarizado por entre os ouvintes menos conhecedores.

Vários álbuns foram lançados, mas após o enorme sucesso de "Connected", nenhum conseguiu obter tal destaque. Continuam ainda nos dias de hoje a fazer música e a dar espetáculos ao vivo!
